Though I actually like it. We finally get to see the real young lady under that suit, and not an exaggerated blond ponytail wearer with red circles on her blue Zero Suit, blah blah blah.

Special Question: Do we think that all Wii games will automatically be relegated to low midcarder at best at this site if they are not heavily anticipated and/or don't need motion control to play? Is it plausible that anything Wii that is not Brawl or a Zelda game gets anti-voted automatically?

Special Question #2: Do GTA games and World of Warcraft get anti-voted?

Mario Galaxy wouldn't have been MUCH better with a controller IMO. At least we can all take solace in the fact that it has the least erratic camera out of all the 3D Mario games.

And what's with all the motion control hate? Video gaming has to move on past controllers. If it's INTERACTIVE entertainment, then make it more interactive!

It's not so much that people hate motion control, but rather how it's being used.

People were stoked about the Wii before its motion controls went from redefining gaming to being associated with ****ty mini games and continuously ridiculous peripherals.

Likewise, Kinect would probably be much better received if the launch titles weren't stuff we've already seen on the Wii. People were tentatively excited for Kinect until we found out it really is just a Wii clone.

As ridiculously copy-cat as the Move is, at least Sony is incorporating it into hardcore games rather than releasing their own versions of Just Dance or Game Party, which is why it's not getting nearly as much flak as Kinect.

Since there's nothing else to talk about...

Will any game even come close to FF13 in the GotY? I think Fallout: New Vegas could, personally, if it's as popular as Fallout 3 was here. While FF13 will be far from FF12, I'd still hesitate to put it anywhere near, say, FF10.

Though I'm still picking FF13 to win with ease. I just think it'll be closer than most expect. Though I guess Mass Effect 2 may hurt FO:NV a bit, not that it'll matter in the Final GotY poll.

As a huge FF fan, Super Mario Galaxy 2 is the best game I've played this year. I'm tipping it to overcome it's faltering predecessor and win here. That, or Mass Effect 2 and FFXIII fight it out. FNV is being made by Obsidian, as opposed to Bethesda, and I think that might hurt it. Even if it doesn't, the odds on it being as strong as FO3 aren't great. Not sure how Pokemon HG/SS will do, but I have difficulty seeing it win. Nothing from this year will be very strong in the long run.

I don't think Castlevania: LoS or CoD: Black Ops will be contenders. Peace Walker should make the final poll and put up a respectable number, for a PSP exclusive.

Starcraft II starts to come out in July. If it does well, I'd have to peg that as a serious contender. But based on what's been released so far? I agree with Ulti that GoW3, ME2, and Pokemon will be given consideration. Bioshock 2 didn't live up to the initial hype, but I can see it as a dark horse pick, as could Bayonetta if people don't forget it by the end of the year. But the odds on favourite right now has got to be Galaxy 2.

I think FF13 has to be the front-runner, but ME2 has a sexy chance at the upset and you can't rule out SMG2 either (though Pokemon HG/SS could **** it over). If a Pokemon-remake wins, I'll be shocked. Remakes have proven not to do as well as their originals in most situations (though I think this will be an exception with Pokemon-love escalating since 2000), and Pokemon has only recently been doing well in GotY-polls yet still not well enough to win a GotY-award on any system in any year yet. Even if the game completes that much, we've only seen a handheld game reach the final-GotY once. That's a dangerous pick, is all!

Hopefully SB runs a GotY-so-far poll at the end of the month like he often does in June.

Is LBP2 this year? Even then, it's hard to imagine GoW3 getting disrespected like that! I'll still consider it the front-runner, though I've been one of the bigger LBP-supporters here and could see that upset. Sackboy did well enough post-LBP compared to other 3D-platformers, and the one poll we ever saw LBP in without MGS4 had it doubling its (admittedly weak) competition. I don't know what's expected to take second place over GoW3 though...Mod Racers or whatever maybe? I don't know its library so well.

I was meaning that there's more chance of LBP2 making the final GOTY poll (i.e. beating GoW3 in the PS3 exclusive poll) than GoW3 coming second while up against Pokemon/FFXIII/ME2/SMG2.

Is Black/White supposed to make it to NA this year?

I don't see GoW3 doing too well. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if LBP2 beat it in PS3 GotY. Mass Effect 2 should be strong, but I'm afraid that Fallout: New Vegas may hurt it. And I do think New Vegas will be along the same strength as 3, but then again I don't think it's going to be a bust like a lot of people do. Galaxy 2 is a wildcard, though I think there's enough competition here that it won't succeed. New Call of Duty should do decently but won't come anywhere close to the contenders. Starcraft 2 will impress, but won't be in the same tier as the top games this year.

My prediction: Final Fantasy XIII > Fallout: New Vegas > Super Mario Galaxy 2. Though I'd pick ME2 over Galaxy 2 if FO bombs.

Overall not really a bad year for games.
