I think we need to go outside once in awhile <_<

Anyway, this getting made 50 posts early has an actual use beyond "lol ulti likes landmark stats topix". For one, Contest Match Hall of Fame voting is now up, and look for it to be there for a month. And for two, I wanted to clean up the first post a tiny bit and now is as good a time as any with the offseason in full swing. Fodder Line and Near-Elite were removed entirely, since no one will ever agree on what belongs there and it fluctuates too often. "X-Stats" was also taken out from the bottom, since the math is already explained in the first post and anyone visiting this topic knows what they are by now anyway. Also made a few grammatical fixes, and added in the Hall of Fame. The HoF is a perfect addition to the first post.

SFF (Same Fanbase Factor) - Same Fanbase Factor is the theory that, if two contestants share a common fanbase, the weaker of the two options will underperform in a direct matchup. For instance, Link was expected to defeat Ganon with 65% of the vote in 2004, based on their 2003 values. Instead, Link collected near 88% of the vote. This is the best example of SFF. However, take some SFF labels with a grain of salt, as many people will slap it onto any match that doesn't make perfect sense. This has caused a few SFF jokes, with LordOfDabu's "Some Frivolous Factor" being the funniest of them.

The fact that everyone in here already knows what it means is irrelevant. Come the contest there wil be far more lurkers than posters in here and they won't know what it means.

Hovering over the topic name shows the title, and under the topic it shows how long it took to reach 5000. As you can see, we average 5000 posts every two days.

but when people started talking about SFF and stuff in the International Saimoe contest I was getting scared. As for your question, most of them wouldn't care unless they were doing a "I'm so normal" Sess thing. I think Lunarhawk and Sausage try that sometimes.

About LBP2...if it sells as well as the first one did and is as well or better-received in a time when the PS3 is far more popular than before, Sackboy could improve decently. He's proven to be one of the most popular 3D-platformer characters here (if not the most popular, not looked over the stats lately) with only one game and a PSP-port of it. If he can capitalize and grow some more, he may be able to take out Vault Boy who surprised last year...but with FO: New Vegas coming in the future, I'll side with Vault Boy for now.

Some weird marionette mode that gives you more control over Sackboy is the only confirmed change. That and Sony promising it will be "radically different." Nothing could save that terrible franchise IMO.

It's less of a platformer and more of a game creator, where you have the tools to create whatever kind of experience you want. You could remake Space Invaders or Breakout, or make some racing game or RPG. There's far more tools and options now for creating levels and such.

Look what Uncharted 2 did for Drake and Mass Effect 2 did for Shepard. If LBP2 gets the right amount of hype here, Sackboy could actually get some decent strength on this site.

Sackboy's still about as strong as Drake though despite not having a sequel, surprisingly; design goes a long way, I guess. Either way, LBP2 can put him above that.


I didn't realize LBP2 was gonna be so different though. If it's going to be more of a game creator...I mean, that's cool, but I don't know how well that will sell or be received, especially if they're still pulling off the copyrighted stuff like in the first one.

That was the biggest draw of the first game, too. No one loved LBP for its platforming mechanics -- it was the ability to create their own levels or scenarios, download other people's levels, and mess around with friends through online co-op. LBP2 will probably be better received and sell more because of what it is. There's still the stock levels created for the single-player by the developers, but no one's going to buy it for those. Everything carries over from LBP1, too, so anyone who loved the first one will likely be there picking up the next one.
