don't really understand where all of this talk of needing Noble Nine
clones is coming from. Didn't we spend the last couple of weeks

seems like the anti-Nintendo fans came out during the board vote,
Nintendo dropped pretty hard at the end and will probably finish at

This
has gotta be in response to Activision's CEO coming out and very
publicly saying he, like, hates games and stuff. Might also be some
backlash to Modern Warfare becoming the biggest hardcore series in

If
it wasn't for Blizzard, Activision would probably be up over 40% here.
They've basically taken the "evil publisher" crown away from EA, who
surprisingly put out a lot of good original games last year. all the Tales character bashing - I've been meaning to ask why you guys
never complain about Edgeworth wasting a spot in the field every year.
It's not like he's any stronger than the ToS guys, and we all know that

Yeah,
Tales-hate is a fad that's stuck around. It was once accepted with good
reason -- we were getting plenty, and pretty much all of them outside
of Lloyd and Kratos Aurion sucked to varying degrees (and Lloyd/KA
haven't particularly impressed lately, either). Nowadays though? I'm cool with Lloyd and/or KA making it in (preferably just one though), and I'm okay with having another new one as long as they aren't blocking good matches. Yeah,
I was pretty sure the Tales-hate was a fad, but combine that with the
whole Dark Link/Samus thing and it seemed like nobody here cared about
any of the actual characters so much as getting only the strongest. That and Edgeworth is the only really weak character who nobody here ever whines about. And CATS I guess, but he isn't coming back. --- Congrats to Dr_Football - Guru Champion 2010 |

The
PW-series never ambushed a contest with turds or had more than two
characters in, Miles would still beat several of the Tales-characters
we've seen, and the cast in the PW-series are pretty endearing to my
understanding (and experience for PW:AA) so it's not too surprising
that the PW-loving board isn't too upset about Miles. Also, I don't think there's been much problem about Tales-characters when considering just the ToS -- Lloyd and KA have been worthwhile, Shiva and Mithos did well enough, Zelos had potential for an upset back in 2007 since he was paired with Fenix/Kefka/Nook (though he got last), and ToS has impressed in both BGE2 and by becoming the highest-rated game on the Top 100 List (yeah, brought it back!) that relied on write-ins. It's the crap like Jade, Luke, and Yuri from outside of ToS that generally pisses people off; ToS-reps typically haven't been impressive but aren't worth such disdain. Nah Yuri would beat Edgeworth for sure (22% on Tifa > 24% on Big Boss, no?), but Edgeworth would definetely beat Mr. Curtiss. |

cares about the money.......but a good CEO doesn't actively do PR
disasters which anger a lot of people who now probably won't be buying

It's funny that people whine about Guybrush and Tales characters while praising Edgeworth and CATS. Either nix them all and bring in Dark Link and ten more Pokemon or keep them all and let people get some faves in even if they're horrible fodder. Just stop whining about Tales characters right after lamenting that weak-ass CATS didn't get the chance to humiliate himself in yet another contest. --- Not Wylvane Dr Football Factor'd. |

Rotating
fodder is absolutely the way to solve the Guybrush problem. Fans don't
need to see him every year, they'll be happy with an appearance once
every few years. We're already doing this somewhat with the returners
tournament, if we did this a bit more we could form a concerted effort
to get some of the stronger newcomers into the field without upsetting
the casuals too much. |

I have always supported eliminating Edgeworth from these contests. And CATS is a Contest God. If people don't get why he should keep making it in, I have no more to say. The
only problem is that I agree that should characters get enough
nominations they should be in the contest and a 9 seed is good enough
IMO. I wouldn't mind if SBAllen increases the vote-in pool though, say
the top 80 get in (top 10 seeds) while everyone is in the vote-in. It
at least gives some strong characters a decent enough seed to do
something (Aertih/Cid being an 11/12 seed would have caused a few

almost positive that CJayC/SBAllen have been giving CATS automatic
entrance since 2005. The board has not nominated the guy enough times

Yeah,
between the board's low nominations for him and CATS getting dead-last
in his vote-in poll, he's had to have some lucky breaks. I don't see
him legitimately earning a spot in the Male Bracket from 2006, for
example. How old is his fad again, anyway? thing I find most impressive about CATS is that he does not appear to
have decreased any in popularity over the 6 years he was in contests.

There
are other obscure characters that have fans as well. Rather than having
Guybrush every year, let some of the other weak characters get some
