Link, Dr. Mario, Baby Mario, Were-Sonic, Were-Link, and Paper Mario are
all the same character as their originals and thus shouldn't be
eligible. Toon Link is iffy since Bacon treats all the Links as the
same, though in reality he should be a different entity considering how
Mega Man and X are separate. Young Link, however, is the younger form
of Adult Link, so they're still the same character since Young Link
only really appears in OoT and MM. Dark Link, Dark Samus, Megaman.exe,
and Volnutt are all distinct characters, so they should be eligible. As
for Dracula, I'm all for him making it considering his Castlevania
identity is distinct from traditional Dracula. As has been mentioned,
his game form is as distinct as Diablo's and Ama's. The think about Toon and Young Link too is that those aren't really accurate ways to categorize them. There's like a bunch of Links in the series... I think there's at least two Links that are theoretically different entities, but both are represented graphically as Toon Link. Twilight Princess Link is a different Link from Ocarina of Time Link, but both TP Link and the adult Link from OoT would be adult Link, whereas Young Link would also be the guy from OoT, and the one from the original Zelda and LttP too I think because they're supposed to be more kid than teen. the Link's and their timelines and stuff just aren't clearly defined enough to separate into different entrants, unlike Mega Man where each different Mega Man is clearly a different robot in a different time period and there's no gray area. --- For your health. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v239/Cyclo/pokewhat.jpg This is my Chocomander, Dr_Football |

What
about Diablo, though? That one's even trickier because his own series
is based around him, much like how Castlevania is based around Dracula,
and both offer similar-yet-distinctly-different forms of the characters
they're based on. I really think if Diablo can get in, then Dracula deserves to be in as well. It's not like I'd pick Dracula to be any higher than a high mid-carder, though I think he could be stronger than Alucard. Hmmm... Dracula vs Alucard, anyone? --- Not Wylvane Dr Football Factor'd. |

There's too many distinct Links for his separation to make sense, while each Mega Man iteration has his own series (Classic, X, Legends, EXE, etc). Technically,
each Link should be nominated separately, but that's not going to
happen. Now that I think about it, is Link the only contest character
this applies to? Besides Zelda and Tingle of course. Yeah, I think so... although I can't really think of anyone else it could apply to. The Zelda series is a unique situation. Gordon Freeman vs. Dracula, who ya got? Oh Dracula, for sure... since I'd take Alucard for sure, and Dracula should at least be on his level given his prominence in like every Castlevania and people voting based off the other Dracula incarnations too. I guess that's the difference with Dracula, maybe. Don't forget FFT Cloud. Is Dissidia Cloud also different? I'm not clear on what the deal with FFT Cloud is, but Dissidia is supposed to be everyone being like... ripped out of their own universes with their backstories intact, I think. Technically we've already had Dracula in this contest.
