More Trivia Answers:

Snake and Kirby are the only non-Clinkeroth characters who have never been held under 40% in a 1vs1 setting.

Shadow and Charizard are the only two non-NNers who have broken 40% on Mario in a 1vs1 setting (this came up in my mind when you guys were saying during Mario/Big Boss, that "good luck to any of our near-elites breaking 40% on Mario).

Tifa almost upset the eventual champion and failed to even get into the contest the year afterwards.

Master Chief is the only non-Nintendo/Capcom character who has beaten Leon Kennedy, and that's if you count 4-ways (plus Leon was losing some Nintendo/Capcom support to Kirby/Dante).

And, as I said before, I think Pikachu and Gordon Freeman are the two characters who have seen the greatest increase in strength since their debut. After all, the unadjusted x-stats have Freeman escaping the doubling from Sephiroth, no?

Then again, I used to think that you have to be a high midcarder to break 30% on Clinkeroth. Not only is Clinkeroth now broken, but then you'd have to consider Freeman a high midcarder. Lol.

Mock Bracket Update. I ranked the characters on a scale of A to E, where A means they are clearly deserving to be in the contest, and E meaning they clearly deserve to get kicked the hell out and never come back, where C is pretty debatable. This list is purely subjective. It's mostly based on strength and a few other factors, but keep that in mind if you see a few characters whose rankings don't make sense.

I'll start things off by posting the A and E lists and see if there's any objections to those.

The A-list is a pretty big reminder about why we probably couldn't be satisfied with a sixty-four character bracket anymore. Forty-four characters are in that list and it's hard to disagree with any of them aside from Frog and Yuna...and even then, Frog's contest-history is big enough for me to be okay with him there one more contest.

I'd put Magus on the A List purely for entertainment value. Mewtwo should be considered a contest staple at this point, and if you're going to put Master Chief on the A List, might as well throw Hayabusa on there as well.

I'd be okay with Magus or Frog being mandatory for another contest, but I don't think both are necessary. Still, I'd rather see Magus fail again when he's the favorite than Frog give false hope for a close match again.

Eh, the lists are nothing more than an organizational thing to keep from debating the merits of keeping or booting 128 characters simultaneously. They're not actual lists I plan to maintain or anything, they're just to simplify the process of keeping/booting characters. Plus a lot of the characters not included are on the B list anyway (besides Magus, who's in the C list), which means they should be included, but there can be a reason or two why they shouldn't be back. But if you guys want to use the lists for future use, be my guest!

But it does sound like everyone at least agrees with keeping all the A guys and booting all the E guys.

Dr. Football was not stopped by any of us, and won the Guru Contest.

We should see Magus vs. Gordon Freeman, just because the loser is guaranteed to humiliate himself (albeit Magus simply based on how he did in 2003).

Maybe it's too late to do this, but...has anybody else noticed that 6 of the Noble Nine (okay, I'm not sure on Mega Man, but whatever) come from a military background? Mega Man was a robot built to achieve world peace. Samus, Snake, Cloud, and Sephiroth all underwent military training from young ages. And [Ocarina of Time] Link is the son of two knights.

Characters like Alucard, Ammy, Jill Valentine aren't A-list to me. More like B/B- list. They're 'contest staples' but not "wow this bracket doesn't have them significant oversight" level. As long as their replacement was someone like Bahamut/Goomba/Red XIII/Rufus Shinra/Squirtle/Blastoise, it's fine.

Of course if Allen was going this their replacement would be Ellis, but, we're talking about ideal scenarios here.

Also I agree totally with the notion that Zelda and Ganon are Dark Link's floors. He's unlikely to be weaker than them. A lot of people underestimating this guy I think; he may not be elite level, but he should be stronger than them. But of course we've had quite enough Dark Link discussion anyway.
