Lopen, unfortunately that's not how the poll would be set up. It would be Link + Vincent against whoever. People would just vote for Link, and that would be that.

If it was set up in a four way fashion that could be different, but with people knowing the outcome had to be huge for Link I have a feeling he would still get enough votes to win.

Lightning should be pretty strong. At the very least, she should be stronger than Vivi

Sazh could be decent because everybody loves the hilarious black guy. The only time GameFAQs is racist is when the black guy is some ghetto thug. Nobody likes those people and rightfully so.

Fang is the most disappointing character in a game ever. She did nothing.

Snow could be okay but he won't be anywhere close to Lightning

Mostly because site traffic has declined, independent of polls. This site is becoming less relevant. Vote totals aren't going to be reaching their past levels again.

The more options thing is also a factor, but a lesser one.

I'd love to know where you keep getting this bogus claim from. Site traffic on ANY gaming site or pretty much anything tied to retail spikes over Christmas and gradually lessens until the next holiday season. This place is actually doing pretty well and bunking that trend somewhat, because of all the huge games that came out in March.

The value of this place always fluctuates between 7 and 11 million annually, and Bacon/Ceej/cnet/the news have confirmed this value multiple times. If that's "less site traffic", sign me up for building a place like this.

Site traffic is fine, and so are the vote totals. They were quite good this contest given the time of year this was held, and comparing this contest's vote totals to something from fall when holiday hype is growing is just stupid. If you had a contest run from something like the middle of November to the middle of January, votals would be ridiculous. Traffic increases vote totals, not the other way around.

The most important thing here is how good the new format is. Keep it around as long as possible.

I actually didn't like this contest much... though I think it's mostly because it was balls to keep up with/do analysis on or whatever. That's a big part of the draw for me, though, so yeah.

Why aren't these people all voting for Link in the 4 way poll then? Are you saying they're metagaming their votes, not "wasting them" on Link? Still doesn't explain the Snake/Cloud situation of the other match, and I don't think that many people pay attention to the poll results that carefully, otherwise Link would've been anti-voted out of the contest by now.

The biggest problem with tag teams is that some characters will get screwed over by being teamed with fodder while others will get a first rate partner and do way better than they deserve.

A tag team contest would only be interesting if the teams were deliberately constructed. Random team assigning wouldn't work, but I think pairing the Link with Tingle, Cloud with Seph, and the rest of the NNers with elites would make predicting the winner a total crapshoot, which would be awesome.

They beat MissingNo by a huge margin, a much bigger margin than what Link is projected to get on him through Cloud, Snake and Sephiroth

what I ought to have done was to use Crono as the base and put him as 50%, but since he lost in round 1, it becomes a nightmare, and I'd rather not do it.

Sephiroth's technical last name would be whatever *spoilerlol* Hojo's last name is. It's very possible "Hojo" is Hojo's last name, so Sephiroth Hojo would probably be his true name. I doubt he would claim it or anything though.

If it were me making the bracket, I wouldn't strictly pair the strongest characters with the weakest characters. The best way would probably to pair them randomly, and then manually switch characters to get rid of LFF pairings. Then we would get a nice continuum of strength, and it wouldn't be the same as the team with the strongest single character winning.
