For one thing, It's not as if this is the NCAA tournament, and seeding is happening on the basis of a won-loss record or merit. The top 100 characters were seeded based purely on user nominations. By that scheme, this same patterns is virtually destined to repeat itself year in and year out. Secondly, in the previous two years, there was no visible seeding, yet the spreading out of the Noble 9 still led to the same general results--at least 3 of the four semifinalists were N9. |

This match alone Link is underperforming expectations by almost 5% for god's sake. Anyone expecting Link to approach 60% here was letting the results of 4-way matches go to their heads. Let's look at what Link got on Cloud in every 4-way match so far: 2007 semifinal - 57.83% Not to be trusted because Sephiroth was in the match and Cloud was hurt by LFF. 2007 final - 54.85% This result is a lot closer to what Link would have gotten on Cloud these days. Even then, Cloud was probably hurt a little bit due to Cloud losing votes to L-Block or even Link. After
the new Wii Zelda, Link will be stronger than ever. Mario will be
stronger next year and Samus too. Snake might get some boost but
Cloud/seph will drop even more. Banning Link is a good idea. Also Why
does Mario look so bad in X stats? How high would he be if he wasn't up
against Link? Because never in a million years is Samus beating Mario

However,
I really don't think that banning Link or any other N9 member is a good
solution. I really think that this contest can be made much fresher and
more interesting by taking the simple step of grouping the N9 in one
bracket from the start, along with 7 other characters who can give them
some good competition. This way, the uber-fans still get their
matchups, the N9 still likely has a representative in the final four
(and, if they don't, we really have something to talk about), and there
are three fresh faces in the semi-finals to make things more
interesting at the end. Maybe I'm missing something, but this seems
like such an obvious fix to the domination of a few key characters over
the last 8 years that I'm exceedingly shocked that it hasn't already
been implemented This is the worst idea i have ever seen. So we have part of a bracket that people care about, and part of a bracket that doesn't matter at all. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CURRENT FORMAT. I
agree with creative. Saying Link is a 99% lock to win every contest
means you're either speaking from frustration or have a poor
understanding of numbers. Link has to win 6-7 matches every year to
claim the title, and the odds of something going wrong in one of them
is much higher than 1%. Heck, Missingno had a better than 1% chance of
toppling Seph, going crazy, and finding him/itself in Cloud's place. Remember that Link has already lost two contests. He's lost 25% of the Character Battles that we've had, and while I won't argue with calling him the huge favorite or even retiring him from the main bracket (although I'd like to see him in after the next Zelda game, especially if he gets a redesign), saying he's only got a 1% chance of losing is simply untrue. --- Yoblazer: http://i29.tinypic.com/dqhyf5.jpg Watch and you'll see... This
morning seemed like any typical, normal day. I got up feeling like ****
from allergies, groaning as I got out of bed about needing to go into
work as my head pounded from inflamed sinuses. As I do any other day, I
grabbed my PSP to listen to, slipped my Pokewalker into my pocket, and
proceeded to walk up to work expecting the worst. I was already in a
horrible mood and lately the pass two weeks have been hell at the
particular game store I work at which I shall call “Game Store” for
privacy reasons. After a brisk walk, I came to my store and behold! It was hell yet again. I felt my mood drop even more as I proceeded into the bathroom to change into my uniform and took mental notes on what all needed to be done. My head began to spin as my “to do” list grew. I took my spot behind the counter where I began to clean up. I heard the charm to the front door ring. I turned quickly to be greeted by two fairly older women with three large bags full of games to trade in. I bit my lip to hold back the desire to moan as I watched an avalanche of games spanning from the original PlayStation to the XBox360 engulfed my counter. I tried to be as polite as I could without making eye contact while I began to sort the games out. Little did I know that I was about to have an emotion, heart pulling experience. The gaming collection presented to me was a very large RPG collection and a handful of other game, some which where personal favorites such as: Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne, Final Fantasy X, Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door, Viewtiful Joe, Psychonauts, Shadow of Colossus and a handful of other, harder to find games. All of the games had a sense of whimsical magic and fantasy to them. The type of games that allow you to escape reality from by engrossing yourself in the mystical adventure the developer created for you. I admired the collection to say the least. Clearly whoever owned them had good taste and was a bit of a collector as almost each one was in its original case with the manual. I was honestly surprised that such a wonderfully put together collection was being traded into “Game Store” over being sold privately online for a higher price. I figured a collector would have known that even if the games were played, their value was still worth more than what was being handed to these ladies. Then I discovered the truth as to why these games were being given away. The
only adjustments we really need to make are with Mario/Mega Man,
Link/Mario and Charizard's division. Aside from that, everything is

we've already one "perfect storm" and one opponent that was just
flat-out stronger. I don't think you understand just how huge "99%" is.
It's the odds you give Ocarina of Time to crush fodder, not for Link to
win every contest in every year. He's such an odds-on favorite I'd be surprised if his prediction percentage was much lower than 2:1. He's a tremendously dominant force, and is easily above the rest of the field. not even opposed to the Final Boss idea, just to the idea that Link is
forever unstoppable (which is what giving him a 99% championship chance

Lets get real here..without Brawl Appearance Snake wouldn't as popular as he is today, he'll continue to get that support, i'm not talking about Peacewalker we all know PSP games dont' do ****. I'm talking about Metal Gear Rising. Multiplat game on 360/PS3, will be pretty big. Yeah,
I'd have to say Link is just too strong. Anyone that believes there's
some sort of chance he can lose to non-jokes is probably just fooling
themselves. Even with a full FF7 remake that is extremely well
received, I just don't buy Cloud being able to ever beat him again. It's no secret Americans dominate the poll, and typically what they say is better wins. Only twice has that not happened, and it was close enough to a split decision for it to happen. If you look at the world outside of North America, Cloud is winning it almost every other location. The only way Cloud actually beats Link is if more people from Europe and Asia start voting, and in very very large numbers. As it stands, a few thousand people in Asia all voting for Cloud is not going to make one bit of difference. Other than that scenario, there's no way Link is ever losing again barring another joke run. --- :> |

As vcharon said, we just need to advertise Gamefaqs lots in Europe and
Asia, and he would win. A big role in KH3 would help too, KH really

isn't really any further away from Link in strength than he's ever
been, by the way. Possibly indirectly he's gotten weaker, but I firmly
believe no one else could have help Link in check this way. Granted
he's winning comfortably, but Link has destroyed every other opponent
