I
know this was said a lot earlier, but...I find it funny how we're
saying that Super Metroid and Metroid Prime are weak, just because they
almost or narrowly lost to games that would likely paste them on a good
number of other sites, at least according to (lol) lists (plus on a
good number of other sites SMK likely beats Link to the Past, let alone
Super Metroid. Similarly another list suggests that even RE4 shouldn't
be able to handle Vice City, forget Metroid Prime. Though I must
mention that said list does not have a single Smash or KH game on it,
plus Civ4 > Deus Ex > SMG). I agree that Link needs to be placed as a "final boss" for these contests, and should be retired from the main bracket. Seeing three characters who are normally high midcarders at worst being fed to him does not make me happy. And yes I am one of the stupid kids who always votes for Link). |

Lightning could be very powerful next contest. To quote Destructoid, "Final
Fantasy XIII has sold over one million units here in America in the
first five days that it's been out. Final Fantasy XIII has now become
the fastest-selling installment in the franchise's history." Factor
in the cross-console exposure, Lightning's great performance against
Sonic before she even had a game out in most of the world, the
likelihood of a Final Fantasy XIII-2, and she could seriously cause
some damage next year. Maybe not enough to take out Link, but who

There's
never going to be an FF7 remake. Square doesn't have the time or money
to put into it. They've said so several times. And being playable in
KHIII isn't enough to stop the juggernaut that is Link. They just asked on their twitter account couple of weeks ago if the fans want a FFVII remake, and then said the response was "overwhelming" seriously I guarantee you there will be a remake , probably after they are done with Versus. --- ... |

I'd like to see Charizard vs. Sonic, actually. And I've said it before, but nobody is ever going to beat Link. Nobody is even going to come close to Link other than Cloud, and he'll never win. There's no point in keeping Link in-it just raises predictability and gives us a load of boring matches, especially with his ability to SFF people who aren't even Nintendo. If we remove Link we free up some space for more interesting matches, and could have the first debatable 1 on 1 final in years, with Link facing the winner. There's nothing to lose, but quite a bit to gain. |

FFXIII
is likely going to be the best selling installment of the FF franchise
ever. Even bigger than FFVII. It's likely that Lightning, Snow, etc.

There
will definitely be a FFVII remake. To deny that is just...denial. FFVII
is Square's biggest game/universe. They'd be foolish not to cash in on

FFXIII
wasn't particulary well received, but then again neither was KH2, and
look how strong it is on our site. Factor in the possibility of TJF,
and you've got a winner there. Maybe we can just make Lightning equal
to Gordon Freeman in the x-stats, and adjust the Chaos Division based
on that? |

I'll
eat my hat if there's an FFVII remake. Whoever posted that on twitter
was probably just some overzealous employee that wanted a remake as
well and wanted to show the higher ups it has backing. I doubt the
execs want to cut off work on all their other titles to put the work

I'd
pick Mario to break 47% on Cloud as of now (I still don't believe him
being weaker than Samus indirectly, but then again I have a bit of bias
against Nintendo characters who draw most of their power from SSB), and
I'd probably side with Snake > Mario > Samus. Though wow Snake and Samus have risen quite a lot from certain 1vs1 outings. Snake has went from 53% on Frog to 53% on Sephiroth. Samus has went from nearly losing to Tifa to 47% on Cloud himself. Can't make this stuff up. |

don't see Mario breaking 47% normally on Cloud unless you think Link
completely fodderizes any other Nintendo character he meets (including

over Cloud is tempting, but I don't think I'd bite on that. I do think
Link SFFed Mario incredibly hard and Mario is vastly underrated in the
x-stats, since I don't buy Samus > Mario at all, but I don't know if
he'd be strong enough to beat Cloud. I do hope he and Snake end up
facing each other on route to Cloud next year, though, assuming we
don't get a third-place match this year. Mario vs Snake could be one

Another bonus match possibility I just realized is a four-way match between Link, Mario, Cloud, and Snake. That could be a fun one to predict. The only sure thing in that one is Mario being last. --- Not Wylvane Dr Football Factor'd. |

Considering
I had Sephiroth > Snake and Kratos winning his division, I'm
surprised I still did as well as I did. I guess backing Sub-Zero, Ryu,
and Big Daddy helped a bit, even if Liquid Snake and Zidane hurt me. I don't know, I'm just kinda surprised I did so well. I swear I was close to the leaderboard for half the contest. --- Not Wylvane Dr Football Factor'd. |

Kratos in hindsight did tremdously well, it wasn't us overestimating kratos, it was us underestimating charizard. Kratos did way better than a lot of people thought once we knew how good charizard was. --- Shakes Fist! |
