Adjusted stats would be just as useless as unadjusted!

The difference being that the adjusted wouldn't be nearly as funny or awesome as the unadjusted are! For example, you wouldn't get Pikachu in the Top 10!

Wait a sec MGS2 poorly received since when? It was just 16th on Paste Magazine's 20 Best Games of the Decade list (then again said list had no SSB, KH, or Zelda game in it, and FFXII was representing its series, not to mention Shadow of the Colossus in the top 5 and Portal at #1), and it was 51st on Empire Magazine's list (then again according to that list it beats Twilight Princess, Chrono Trigger, and Brawl, but loses to Metroid Prime, SotC, Deus Ex, Tomb Raider, The Sims, Eternal Darkness, Shenmue, and tons of other stuff)!

The second pic is better than any pic selected today. I don't understand why it wasn't picked either.

They look good to me. I doubt there's any particular reason they weren't used other than they just weren't.

A contest without Link would be truly fantastic. He needs to suddenly and mysteriously vanish from these contests, only to reappear seven years later (however, he would be unable to use any of his good items).

Congrats to Heroic Palmer and Dr_Football, good to see two cool guys win two great contests!

Also, any suggestions for this year's bonus battle? A poll with Link as the only option would certainly be fitting...not to mention make 55% of the site happy. However, I'm personally hoping for something without CATS. The only thing missing from this contest that we could have reasonably expected was CATS (I know he was in the vote-in, and I do consider those part of the contest, but it's not exactly the same). You can never go wrong with a little more CATS.

My idea is to have a silly seemingly one sided poll, only have the choices actually give the votes to the opponent when voting.

IMHO, STAR OF THE CONTEST.

1. Charizard (First newcomer to win his division since Vincent, upset both Bowser and Kratos, did exceedingly well on Mario)

2. Missingno (First character to ever beat N9 in a 1vs1 format, did well against Sephiroth)

3. Snake (Makes impossible possible, first man to break Clinkeroth(formed in 2003), did well on Cloud, number 3 on the X-stats)

4. Samus (All round consistent and impressive performance, did well on Cloud, number 4 on the X-stats)

5. MegaMan/Bowser/Ammy/Jill (All performed slightly better than expected.)

Also, with all the adjusting talk, I politely request to have no official adjusted stats. Flashbacks to BGE1's adjusted stats come to mind.

I'm all for trying adjusted stats, but I'd rather not see them advertised or relied upon in any normal manner.

If someone is so simple-minded that having adjusted stats also available actually makes things tougher to predict than looking at raw stats, than I say they're just too dumb to bother with :p People will have to have the brains to make most day/night adjustments on their own though I would think.

Oh I'm sure people will find them useful :) I for one will certainly use them. Leon's adjusted stats from freakin' 4-ways were damn great, and those are much tougher to work with than this.

Imagine going back in time to the aftermath of the 2003 contest, and tell somebody that "someday Magus is going to be weaker than Gordon Freeman. Just to wait and see!" They'll probably say that you're nuts. We should set up that match next year.

Metroid Prime would beat Super Mario Galaxy in a head-on match.

Half-Life 2 is a high midcarder.

How the hell did Snake and Samus get so close to Cloud?

Judging by Snake's atrocious board vote, i think it is safe to assume that he did not benefit much from the bandwagoning. Clinkeroth probably dip in popularity big time i think, aside from Link's SFF match against Sonic/Mario, none of Clinkeroth's matches were particularly impressive.

Sephiroth - Underperformed against Missingno. and Tifa, got killed by Snake without putting a fight.

Cloud - Went from getting 57% to 52% on Snake, went from getting 71%(with Auron leeching) to 66% on Ryu, awful performance against FC

Link - Only looked great when being in SFF matches against Mario/Sonic, Ganon and Zelda dropped so it is reasonable to accept that Link declined too.

Lower half of the bracket are cheering right now. Cloud is doing much better than most people expected, and he's close enough that the idea of retiring Link doesn't sound so good.

HE ALWAYS WINS... WITH 54 PERCENT.

This also kinda suggests that the FFVII boys were being anti-voted for the big upset, because there's no way in hell I buy Snake or Samus being worth 45% on Link before SFF. Please don't try to sell it.

That... more than implies that Sephiroth would be doing similarly here, and is stronger than Snake. Not something I'll dismiss out of hand, but I'll favor other possibilities before that. Also Cloud is going to get hit hard with the day here, probably harder than he ever has before.
