I think Squall could have performed similarly against Kirby and better against Link than Sonic did. Crono didn't get a chance to prove much of anything, but breaking the Noble Nine in the first round and having two close battles with Vincent in four-ways tell me he's not home-free from Squall. Besides, the point isn't so muc that they aren't as proven as Squall, it's that they're not as proven as the rest of the Noble Nine in recent years and Squall is due the serious one-on-one shot against some of the lower Noble Niners that Ganon, Bowser, Kirby, Vincent, and maybe others have had in the past. If Squall gets to face a Noble Niners next year, Sonic or Crono would be his best opponent.

Actually, I agree with you. I would take Mega Man to get around 54% on Crono or Sonic so there's some margin of error there for Squall to pull it off.

Still take Sonic/Crono but I concede that it's more debatable than I originally thought.

Analysis

Final match of the contest and as crazy as everything was it seems that we’ve returned to the status quo of Link vs. Cloud. Four-ways may have prevented Cloud from finishing second in both years, but here he is ready for another beating at the hands of Link. This might be Link’s biggest beating of Cloud to date based on past results.

It is quite obvious that Cloud and Sephiroth have dropped from their statuses and are now among the other noble nine characters. If at the beginning of the contest I told you that Link would break 60% on Solid Snake or Samus before SFF most people would believe me and considering Cloud didn’t exactly win over Solid Snake and Samus by that much it isn’t really that much of a stretch to think Link could do the same thing. Of course that’s all assuming that Link is also as dominant as before.

Link could be the benefiter of SFF making him look strong, like Final Fantasy VII was in the games contest. His match against Thrall and Alucard were not impressive at all and it is not exactly a stretch to believe that Link has SFF Mega Man X, Luigi, Sonic and Mario. On the other hand SFF has been something hard to accomplish, but at the same time only a couple of percent is needed for Link not to look his dominant self.

60% is a tall order to fill and while Link might not be up to the task, but this is the last match and we might as well see it end with a bang. Banning Link from the bracket seems to be a popular decision in the stats topic, personally I don’t care either way, seven matches out of 127 is not going to ruin the contest for me. The only benefit is that it gives SBAllen less of a chance at screwing up potential strong characters by feeding them to a strong opponent. Of course if that happens we all still know the champion deep down.

Well, I was just going to do it by timeframe (First Night Vote, Before School Vote, During School Vote, etc.) like I used to since we had 24 hour matches again. If I just had the 14:30 update, I could finish it.

TRE started tracking updates shortly after 1:00 PM until the updater was working again. So there will be about 1 hour of missing updates. If you were planning to do an hourly trend chart, you wouldn't have the 1:00 PM update available to you, although you could try using the next closest update after 1:00 PM (once they are added to the updater) if you are doing an hourly trend chart.

Although you could do one of your standard EBV/PHV/.../ASV/SNV trend charts once most of the missing updates are on the updater.
