I don't think Snake is being bandwagoned here, he seems to fall in line with his performance against Sephiroth and he had no reason to overperform in that match.

So how about that third place match against Mario?

Snake's still over 49% on Cloud, and you just said yourself that he doesn't look like he's being bandwagoned hard. Snake is a ridiculously clear favorite over Mario, with the sole caveat of the Brawl SFF theory.

Against Chris, Cloud from hours 1-5 was pretty consistent, getting slightly better 5-6 and better again 6-7. The best time was 7:30-9:30. So I'd say the the morning vote will start around 9:30. Though with NA adjusted for DST and most places outside of NA not, it could be a bit off. And obviously Snake's trends aren't going to match Chris's exactly. But I think 7:30-9:30 being best for Cloud and then having a dropoff is a decent estimate.

Yup. I love Link, but I think this is the weakest Link since 2003. All of Clinkeroth has fallen, Sephiroth most of all and Link least, but he's not escaped unscathed. We'll see tomorrow!

Round 1: Link disappointed against Thrall.
Round 2: Link disappointed against Alucard.
Round 3: Link disappointed against Megaman X.
Round 4: Link disappointed against Luigi.
Round 5: Link impressed against Sonic, but only because he had disappointed so much in the first 4 rounds.
Round 6: Link did okay against Mario, a tad less than last year.

I think people don't understand just how strong 2004-2008 Link was.

The thing is, a lot of us dismissed Clinkeroth doing poorly as Anti-BlowoutFAQs at the time. I was always somewhat skeptical, and now we've seen that Cloud and Sephiroth really did drop- it wasn't Anti-BlowoutFAQS after all, it was Cloud and Sephiroth getting weaker. Why not Link?

Well, if you're right (that Link has dropped, but Cloud and Sephiroth have dropped more), then they'll actually probably be right about tomorrow - because if Link has also lost a step, but less than Cloud / Sephiroth, he should be able to improve his past performances on Cloud - and if Snake manages this, then Snake'll probably become the third character in 1v1s to break 40%... but Snake / Cloud will still be looking at 43 - 45% and Link will look as far above the rest of the field as he has since 2002.

Unless I'm missing something about what you're arguing.

Although Ocarina of Time by itself going and beating FF7 with just as much percentage as Link had regularly been beating Cloud by before isn't very inspiring

Well, congrats on finally getting to finish as the runner-up for the first time in four years, Cloud. It'll be a humiliating second place finish, but it's second place nonetheless. =/

Big gain for Cloud, this could still go Snake's way but he's looking a lot better now. The good thing is his votals are remaining very steady around 230-240, whereas Snake is relying on random spikes to even stall him.

Link is going to have about 70% at the freeze tomorrow.
