I'd say 360 is still the favorite to end up 2nd overall. Sony isn't cutting the lead that 360 has fast enough; unless the next Xbox comes out before the PS4, I can't see PS3 ever taking the worldwide lead.

They won't be, but I would hope you all don't see it as just this, right?

I've figured for a while that they'll leapfrog ahead of Microsoft eventually, but I very much doubt the PS3, as it stands, is as successful as Sony was hoping for. They've been selling on pace with Microsoft's console since their own launch; there's no way this is what Kutaragi envisioned.

Sony is fine, and PS3 is doing well enough these days to make it a solid system... but I fully believe Sony has to be disappointed after the PS3 dominated last gen so much that they were essentially the only system anyone cared about, and now being in third place world wide.

Oh, they definitely handled the NA stuff like GTA4 and FFXIII marketing poorly as hell. That, and stuff like XBL really did a number on them that they were too arrogant to really deal with ahead of time. But notice how you guys don't talk about HD DVD in this topic. And compare that to the types of things you guys were saying about it years ago. I hope you remember those types of posts.

Okay, Cloud's going to get the lead something fairly soon. Solid should fight it to some degree when it gets close and Solid shouldn't break down like Samus did, but Cloud will lead. The questions become how much of a lead does he build and is Solid able to come back with any time-frame.

Snake's got a decent late night vote too so I don't think Cloud will kill him too bad.

But I don't like Snake's chances much. Narrow loss with Cloud getting up about 1000 with the night and an extended stall during the day is what I see happening here, unfortunately.

I knew all along that HD DVD was dead in the water against Blu-Ray; I figured BR was favored as soon as I heard the "HD DVD" name, which is the stupidest and most confusing thing ever. The fact that BR is just all-around better and had more support even back then sealed that deal.

I think you have to wonder why we'd all just turn on Sony after they had given us the PS1 and PS2. Weren't those popular systems? The PS2 was pretty much universally loved, so why would so many gamers turn on them? Nintendo has slapped hardcore gamers in the face with Wii the last couple of years, and while gamers have voiced their disappointment and frustration, we still admittedly hit Sony worse in 2006. Why? The price was part of it, the poor launch library was part of it, but it was mainly because of their arrogance and being so damn out in the open about none of us meaning a thing to them. At least Nintendo isn't outright SAYING "We don't care if you're dissatisfied, we don't need you as customers, look at how much Wii Fit sold."
