This
is kind of odd, I was in such a doom and gloom mode over Cloud, that
honestly, this should still count as exceeding expectations so far

I
understand the argument that heroes depreciate value at a slower rate
than villains, which explains why Cloud might have lost less percentage
support than Sephiroth. ...But how does this seemingly explain Sephiroth losing a larger chunk of his base than Tifa or Vincent? Maybe the playable characters lose less than the NPCs? Or maybe Tifa just benefits from being attractive to look at and Vincent benefits from having Dirge of Cerberus as a recent release? Maybe there's a core group of FFVII voters who'll vote for any FFVII character, and then another splintering group of voters who remember FFVII but only feel a strong affinity towards the main character (Cloud,) with the net result being that Sephiroth appears to lose the most support while Tifa and Vincent's support remains relatively constant? ...Heck, I dunno, man. |

The reason I am commenting about how this is stupid is because if this was me
whining (especially if the character I was backing was winning
decently) I'd be told to stop whining, "vcharon post" or something of
that nature. If you guys really don't like to see whining, stop whining
yourselves. It's really ridiculous, and it doesn't even begin to make
any sense to whine about something Snake has well under control at this

Lol Kratos > Sonic in the stats. And lol Master Chief. Can't even finish above characters who you wiped the floor with two years ago in these stats. I've always been a supporter of Kratos > Chief, but man, this... And apparently the stats where Gordon Freeman escapes the doubling from Sephiroth...well, it's because of Sephy's weakness now and not Freeman's strength, lol. Maybe villains fall much faster than good guys? |

Vincent and Tifa benefited from being directly against Seph and would

Sephiroth is just getting some backlash? It's becoming increasingly
more common find people on the internet going "Sephiroth? Most

Maybe people are slowly starting to realize that Sephiroth isn't really all that brilliant an antagonist? One could only hope. If the trend continues, though, Sephiroth and Crono -- two of the stronger NN characters in past years -- will be two of the weakest NN characters (and beaten by non-NNers) by 2K12. |

I'm kind of hesitant to go this route, but could late-contest Sephiroth have suffered a backlash from having defeated Missingno, causing him to underperform in every single match past then? I know this kind of dragging back the "revenge vote" thing, and really it's hard to imagine the Missingno crowd would have gone Sephiroth anyway, not to mention it doesn't explain the pre-Missingno matches, but... Man, I'm reading earlier in the topic and even at the 15 minute mark people are thinking the match is up in the air?? Wow! I checked this at the 3 minute mark, went "Match over, Cloud wins, sweet" and went back to playing FF12! Don't
yell at me for saying this, Sephiroth fans, but Cloud is the deepest
character in FFVII, and extremely likable too, whereas Sephiroth is all
style and no substance. It makes sense that what people thought was
cool in 1997 no longer is so appealing, whereas they continue to like a
more substantive character. --- 2010 Extrapolated Standings: Crono gets 46.85% on Sephiroth. All you need now is KH3 or SSB4, Crono. Then your quest shall be fulfilled! |

Remember gang: --Solid edged Sephiroth-with-Cloud out in 2006's Battle Royale. --Solid just beat Sephiroth one-on-one for twelve hours. --Solid led Cloud every second of the final two matches in 2008. --Solid reached the championship the past three contests (assuming the bracket-final/Battle Royale was the championship). Solid is not giving this decisive match without a fight, even if the lead isn't that big right now. Cloud should cut it down at some point, but he shouldn't have an easy time passing him. --- Picking Auron > Squall was dumb, but not as dumb as thinking I could beat Leonhart! I have to confess that it is somewhat surprising, though, that 2500+ people who prefer Snake over Sephiroth would double-take and support Cloud over Snake. I mean I know there are different voters this time around and some variance there and yadda yadda, but that's just surprising. And I'm not sure how the argument that Snake benefited from Samus supporters against Sephy works, insofar as you'd think those same Samus supporters would want Snake to beat the character that actually beat Samus. |
