~*Say What? Some Common Stat Topic Lingo Defined*~

SFF (Same Fanbase Factor) - Same Fanbase Factor is the theory that, if two contestants share a common fanbase, the weaker of the two options will underperform in a direct matchup. For instance, Link was expected to defeat Ganon with 65% of the vote in 2004, based on their 2003 values. Instead, Link collected near 88% of the vote, because the Zelda fanbase so clearly sided with him. However, take some SFF labels with a grain of salt, as many people will slap it onto any match that doesn't make total sense. This has caused a few SFF jokes, with LordOfDabu's "Some Frivolous Factor" being the funniest of them.

X-Stats - Short form of Extrapolated Statistics, aka the mathematical "strength" of a contestant that can be determined based on their performance in any given matchup. See above for a detailed explanation of the x-stat process.

Noble Nine - Link, Cloud, Solid Snake, Sephiroth, Mario, Crono, Sonic, Samus and Mega Man.

Near-Elite - The Squall, Auron, Vincent, Kirby, Missingno, Charizard, et al group that has come at, near or even ahead of Noble Nine characters recently.

The Fodder Line - A final X-Stat value of 15% or below.

Aw, well that streak of gains had to end. Link hasn't doubled Mario on any update yet, but he's no stranger to it- in last year's semifinal, he ended with 66.28% on Mario, after all, so he was above the doubling on many updates.

I'm sure he does. I would vote Link over Everybody unless Jill was in Everybody's pic, and even then it'd be a coin flip. The guy is just too beastly. He's iconic, heroic, awesome, the whole nine yards. He's impossible to hate and has the strongest game around. Like Mumei just told me, those who hate him around here do so only for his dominance, but guess what, guys, people just like Link that goddamn much. He's never needed a bandwagon or any kind of outside support. The people, the EVERYDAY GAMEFAQS PEOPLE, love Link.

...Heh, I learned something new today.
Something absolutely ridiculous.

Right, the fact that it's vague is kinda the point though. If you made a ten way poll (or even lots of fourway polls) Link doesn't get 50%...but I wonder how many people would just see the "Link" there and instinctively vote for him, without thinking "No way man, Sigurd is actually my favorite character!"

Damn, Link really is on another level.

I never liked the contests that took previous winners out of the running. They always felt cheap and artificial. But if Link keeps this up in the finals, I really would support keeping him off the next bracket. He just ruins too many good matchups. What if we'd gotten to see Mario vs. Cloud this year? Or X vs. Luigi? Or Mario vs. Sonic? (Okay that wouldn't have been a good matchup, but still.)

Agreed on most accounts, but I will concede one thing.
While controlling the Mako was, for the most part, an absolute chore...
...There were a few planets where the environment was absolutely stunning to behold.
There's this one planet in Maji where you see this:

And it's gorgeous.

I did miss that about ME. One of the few things ME did well, give you that brief tingling sensation that you were exploring new worlds.

...Unfortunately, then the Mako would bug out on you and ruin the experience.
But that initial thrill was still great.

I'm currently playing ME1 now, and the Mako missions are a perfect example of stuff that could/should have been cool but gets overused to hell and back to the point where it kind of sucks.

I used to be a huge JRPG fan who thought the western companies were doing it all wrong.
Then KOTOR and Mass Effect came out, and Final Fantasy came out with X-2 and XIII.

...Now I'm convinced it's Bioware's responsibility to save us all from terrible RPGs.

So apparently there's a contingency of ME1 > ME2 folks and a contingency of ME2 > ME1 folks.

...Heh. Personally, I do think ME2 is the far better game -- though that's to be expected, it was released a couple years later. I love both games. Rating ME2 over ME1 is purely perfunctory. Both games were phenomenal, mind-blowing experiences that revealed what playing a great RPG should always feel like. And both games had endearing characters, some pretty sweet plot developments, and Shepard punching female reporters and picking fights with aliens.

Except that their RPGs aren't really rpgs at all, outside of leveling and stats. You don't role play or anything... WRPGs are the true RPGs. JRPGs are more of a storybook game, since you follow a story instead of actively partaking in crafting it.
