I haven't kept up to date, all i know is that this board is flooded with ban all FFVII characters they win every year. FFXIII too good, I mean Lightning has the best quotes ever. --- Shakes Fist! |

If
there were any justice, Snake would pull a bandwagon win over Link out
of this thing. But that'll never happen because the guy who actually
wins every year never gets anti-voted, and Snake doesn't have the

always found it funny how there are enough people who obsessively
anti-vote top tier guys because they often make the later rounds, then
those guys who anti-vote so much to the point where we can give them a
factor are the ones who say we care too much about the contest. If we bracket voted sure, but hey who's caring too much to the point of constantly anti-voting? --- Shakes Fist! |

I wasn't directing it at you Kaxon, I'm just saying in general whenever
we get an upset some ranbom users/lurkers come to the board with nasty
bitter comments to us about caring too much, then they say that's why
they always anti vote all the time. so like those lurkers/random doods are kinda weird, they take satisfaction in trying but often failing to make someone's bracket lose points because we care too much according to those users. --- Shakes Fist! |

Sephiroth,
Crono, and Yoshi all being in the same general area wouldn't be too
surprising to me, in all honesty. It's a huge drop for Seph, but he
already looks like he's had a huge drop considering how badly Snake is
whooping his ass. I'm really curious to see how Snake does next round. I wouldn't be surprised if Cloud still wins despite Snake's fantastic performance here. --- Not Wylvane |

Best thing they could do next year is retire Link (and only Link) and let Cloud, Snake, Samus, Sephiroth, and Mario duke it out. Because with FFVII slipping a bit more each year, that'd actually make for one hell of a contest in 2K11. |

So Sephiroth is winning the ASV at least. Cloud/Snake looks to be good- the match of the contest. I do think Snake is going to get bandwagoned, so I'd like to state again that you should not panic if he gets out to a 3000 vote lead in the first 4 hours. Cloud can come back from that in a 24-hour 1v1 match......the votals are going to be huge. --- 2010 Extrapolated Standings: Crono gets 46.85% on Sephiroth. All you need now is KH3 or SSB4, Crono. Then your quest shall be fulfilled! |

Glad to see he's stalling him, even with all hope lost. For being an NPC in just one game, Sephiroth's strength has been goddamn amazing. There's no one else that can say that. Sephiroth is only playable in Dissidia and Ehrgeiz I think? (Well there's that time you're in his party in the flashback I guess). Though then after 5 years of laying in obscurity, to celebrate and make the final big game on the PS3, FFVII remake comes out after being secretly developped and within a year cloud goes from 19th in the x-stats to a storming over the champion link ending his streak in 2015. IMO
on top of the bandwagon effect you see going on with Snake here,
there's another important factor in play, and that's console loyalty.
It's creating a bizarre sort of SFF, imo. Before the PS3, being a huge FF(7 optional) fan and being a Sony fan weren't necessarily exclusive things. But increasingly over the lifespan of the PS3, Snake and Kratos have become serious Sony mascots. Likewise, tensions have only increased between the PS3 and the 360. Earlier on, there was more serious tension between all three consoles, but over the years- as it's become increasingly apparent that the Wii just doesn't carry most of the multiconsole titles- the fanboy loyalties have grown more and more increasingly tense between the PS3 and the 360 exclusively, and Wii has been left behind, or categorized as its own thing that people should own with either a 360 or a PS3, due to their library overlap. This building tension, coupled with a boosted support base for the PS3 since its price drop, is really showing in a major way for Snake. A lot of gamers who would have easily pledged their vote to any FF7 were Sony serious Sony fanboys, as that was a PSX title, and so there was no conflict. But now, when these same fanboys go to vote, they have to question which loyalty and which statement they want their vote to mean is more important to them. Should they vote with their $300+ PS3's mascot, with hopes of symbolically giving it one of its first major public Gfaqs victories over the 360, or with their increasingly-aged Final Fantasy character, who stars in a game they probably haven't played in years now, and whose dominance in the competition has been so repeatedly affirmed, it's almost stolen all purpose from these character battles? So personally, I credit Snake's rampage here to gamers' voting increasingly with their consoles, and not with their characters, due to raging, heightening tension between the often "bigger" 360 fanbase and the "underdog" PS3 one (possibly highlighted by the recent FFXIII release), along with the gradual eclipse of the Wii from that same thought process as it's become an increasingly "neutral" system, whether that means "must own alongside" or "piece of trash." This mentality, the chance for a major "PS3 win" on Gfaqs, is fueling Snake's high numbers- particularly with his being the last major entry left from the PS3 sector. It'll be interesting to see how he does against Link, when 360 fanboys don't have a dog left in the fight, and Nintendo does. --- DoublexEdge: Can you guys believe we will have this game in 4.5 hours? All these years.... All the tears, finally come to fruition. |

I've
never understood Sephiroth's strength either. He doesn't fit the mold
of Link, Cloud, and Crono, who are incredibly likable characters who
