Crono still looks half-decent. Guess that means that Sephiroth and Sonic are the only failures of the Noble NIne this year.

Sephiroth's year wasn't really a failure though. He lost to another NN member, which is acceptable assuming we allow NN values to fluctuate. It was a terrible failure for the prestige of Clinkeroth, sure, but Sephy's still quite strong and I can't think of anyone outside the upper half of the NN who'd beat him.

I would take Mega Man in a rematch. It would at least be a close match, unless it was the sprite round. In which case Mega Man gets 55%

Big Boss has legitimate strength. Kratos is obviously overrated a lot by the Pokemon release though.

Yeah he's a bit overrated, but I have a tough time thinking of a stronger western character then Kratos now.. and this was before God of War 3 released.

Omitted scores got it wrong.

Top tiers did better than others but they still didn't do so well. Some people saw this result coming but a lot of people didn't. Only 346 out of the top 1032 got the match right. The remaining -14 bracket once again gets the match right, though. The prediction percentage actually floats around 30 for a while before fading.

Getting Round 5 matches wrong hurts a lot. 33 people fell off the Top 50 today. Luigi_Galaxy, KadenceInc, AccelACE, GoldSlime35, captaincanadian, Dark_Spiral, CloudOfKH, FireLaserBeam, LegendaryGeno, Heroic_Laguna, superstarkyle, Seang1978, Zylothewolf, nintendogirl1, Saxophoninator, Agent_M, Iubaris, ranapuer, Topstorm87, Gavin_Sykes, PukeInMyPot, Wolf_Kenri, WiggumFan267, Quasar_In_Space, Pyramid_Hat, DaemonDragon, fr0g804, Safer_777, demphra, TheOlympicHero, linkhatesganon, Naomi_Diamond and cyanlce did not have Solid Snake winning the match.

2 people managed to build up enough points in previous matches to survive getting the match wrong. ExThaNemesis and sonic_nhl also didn't have Solid Snake winning but hang on in 49th and 50th place.

Should be a good one. Snake leading for the first 15-ish hours is almost assured, I think. It's just a matter of whether or not he can survive the ASV.

Squall Leonhart is the worst Final Fantasy character ever created.

Snake probably wins. His performance against Seph isn't impressive enough to take Cloud, especially in a 24 hour match but bandwagoning should give him the extra push to beat our hero.

Going by all the Cloud/Seph matches, pretty sure he's still the statistical favourite. I think Snake will wind up around where Samus was

Squall Leonhart is the worst Final Fantasy character ever created.

Over 61%, just like that, with another update in the mid-60s. Can Link match his 65% on Mario from last year? It's still unlikely, but beginning to look possible.

As much as I love Shepard, he is overrated cuz of pokemno just like Kratos is; He got about 40% on Pikachu who then went and got 55% on Snake, who then went and got 53% on Seph. He's a mid carder, but he's not beating Zero, let alone Vincent like the stats say.

I'm not sure why people were expecting 40% though. Link has faced Mario 7 times, and Mario has never broken 38%. Last year he did the worst he's ever done against Link excepting the Battle Royale.

Not necessarily. Weaker characters probably do better with anti-votes than stronger characters, since the stronger a character is the more likely it is that the anti voter would be a fan of them anyway. Normally, if someone sees a character they don't know versus a character they do, they will vote for the character that they do know, but with someone who is anti-voted that changes. If Snake is going up against Guybrush and a Seph anti-voter knows Snake but doesn't really care about him, but has no idea who Guybrush is, they'll vote for Snake. If it's Guybrush Vs. Seph however, a Seph anti-voter will vote for Guybrush to a much larger degree than these current results would imply.

And it works in reverse too. Against Link, Seph probably does better than Snake, since people who are anti-voting him now would flock away to someone that they actually care about.

Anti votes are a part of character's natural strength if you're dealing with characters that are close to them in popularity, I guess but not when dealing with characters on the extremities.

And Sephiroth's underperformed all contest

Couldn't that point to anti-votes?

if we drop him a tier, next contest season, Mario/Samus/Snake/Sephiroth could be great, heck if cloud also drops down a tier, then we've got a perfect setup for interesting matches, VII's dropping fast, so there's still time for that five pack to do something good.
Now if Sonic overboosts from a good sonic 4, that's asking for too much.

The only problem here is link, he pretty much has to go through a few of these guys and carve them a new one, unless we get champion earns the right to defend in a championship match and the final is to choose the number 1 contender.

Imagine if Snake beats Cloud and that theory of Nintendo characters leeching Snake's Brawl fanbase is true. Link may break 60% on Snake in that situation.

I'm calling this much for you.
Around the time Mass Effect 3 comes out, Shepard's going to be a serious threat to the lower-most portions of the NN and by far the strongest western character on the field.

I'll definitely consider taking post ME3 Shepard over the likes of Crono and Sonic. It'd be a risky pick, but a risk I'd take. Definitely post-ME3 Shepard over anyone not Noble Nine, with the possible exceptions of the likes of Pikachu (if this newfound Pokemon craze is legit) or a Nintendo SSBB-infused stalwart.

And of course I'm assuming ME3 will be awesome. But this is Bioware we're talking about. That assumption is safe.

I realize that Link brings in a ton of votes, but the man is just way too strong nowadays. The elf should be retired (at least for a while). God help anyone who faces Link after the new Zelda achieves maximum hype levels...

You're underestimating how insanely awesome ME3 will be.
And if Bioware handles its Cerberus network right, the constant ME2 updates with new kickass content will help Shepard, too.

Enough to beat Ryu? Hell, I don't know. But I'm hoping ME3 is great enough to warrant its possibility.
