Link should break at least 56% on Cloud, probably 58+% on Snake (since if Snake gets there that means Cloud has dropped off even moreso).

I think he'd get 57% on Cloud.

Sephiroth is the most well-known (and best IMO) villain in all of gaming history. He has a ridiculously good design, is the protagonist of the most famous scene in gaming, and has a fantastic theme to his name.

Snake is very iconic, but he's got nothing on Sephiroth.

With all the backlash FFVII gets in these contests people seem to forget that FFVII actually was an extremely iconic game, on gameFAQs and outside of it. Much moreso than MGS or any of its sequels.

If it's Just for Steroid Snake > Sephy. 265-267 is probably the lowest score if everybody chose Sephy. Much higher of course if more of the top people chose the upset.

This has been almost over since the 2nd update my friend.

Stop ****ing saying that, seriously. Stuff this awesome never happens.

I will consider (CONSIDER) calling this "over" when Snake's lead is well in excess of 2000 (say, 2200). I know it's crazy or whatever, but I don't care. I'm pessimistic like this like I am with football. We're 3-0 up and still, no. Far from over.

Link barely broke 54% on Snake in the 2008 final. I don't think he's breaking 58% on Snake this year, especially if Snake shows signs of bandwagoning next round.

Yes Sephiroth back in the day was probably close to as much of a gaming icon as Snake.

FF7 anti-votes have nothing to do with them not being "icons". Mario is heads and shoulders above all other "icons" anyway, not even Link is really all that iconic overall honestly.

I think to the mainstream, Snake is more relevant. Especially now that he's in Brawl. FF7 is 13 years old.

Consider this: FF7 is like.. the most beloved game on this site (maybe OoT is higher now).. and Snake is still beating Sephiroth. And GameFAQs is definitely disproportionately in favour of FF7 compared to most of the gaming world. Freaking Cloud and Sephiroth beat Mario, the biggest icon of all time.

Hey everyone, to be fair to ExTha, if Snake had dropped this (/if he drops this no jinx), I would have been absolutely intolerable. And not my normal kind of intolerable either!

That's my theory, anyway. Almost through the first hour, Snake. I hang on every update with bated breath.

Ummm...what? It couldn't be more clear.

And really, if you hold a contest like this at every gaming site, Mario wins in a small %age of them. Just about every site will have their own favorite and it's unlikely to be Mario. That just means nothing.

If you're talking about the Snake is more relevant now thing and not the latter part of what you said, then yes, I agree. But Sephiroth was about as relevant back in the day, and FF7 was still loathed and anti-voted to hell around these parts.

it wasn't even a real stall. Snake still gained 17 votes and he's likely going to EXPLODE next update because that one was all him dropping off.
