was all Samus dropping off. If she can get back to her previous votals
and this isn't indicative of the vote shift, she may stay in this. |

This being a night match, Samus has very little chance of staying close here. Still, it's all but certain Snake can beat Cloud I think. --- :> |

I don't think this would make the top 5 honestly, percentage wise. Ugh, so no this was no trend... not looking good for Cloud really. He's going to need a decent lead before morning comes. If Samus wins, I really hope Snake is legitimately stronger now because there's no way I want to see a joke final. --- :> |

****, this is weird. I'm a little more confident about tomorrow now,
though I do still probably give Sephiroth the edge as favourite. But we have to get through this match first and Samus isn't making it easy for Cloud at all. She just extended her lead...still think Cloud will pull through though, but definitely confirming this as a top 5 all-time upset if it happens. If
this is 100% legit SMAUS strength, I'd be tempted to call her the
favorite at the moment. The more she's getting rallying/bandwagoned
though, the harder it will be for her to keep up as the match wears on.

Most actual upsets would be considered pre-contest hype upsets, but not the other way around. If you mean the latter, I would say yes...because if this happens, it would actually be reflecting a major shift in voting trends as pertaining to the very top entrants, similar to the way Link destroyed Cloud in 04. In fact, I can't think of any other 1v1 upset since that 04 final that would be as huge in this regard. --- Every day the rest of your life is changed forever. |

know, on the off-chance Samus and Solid Snake both pull off upsets, the
FF7-doubting that will follow next contest will be enormous. Mario VS
Cloud and Mega Man VS Sephiroth would be rematches discussed again,
Squall will become favored against Vincent and even moreso against
Tifa, all sorts of people would take Zero > Aeris despite it being
close, few will take Zack to beat Big Boss...I don't have a good
comparison for Cid, but you get the idea. Hell, if we had BGE3 next
year, I'd expect some upset-talk to brew if RBY got a shot against FF7. Not that those are all the appropriate responses to take, but you better believe the board will distrust FF7. --- Picking Auron > Squall was dumb, but not as dumb as thinking I could beat Leonhart!
