Man, I barely read comic books, and I know who Gambit is! Exclusively from the cartoon show and the awesome arcade game, that is. Speaking of the awesome arcade game, we should totally get Colossus and Nightcrawler into these things! --- Squall Leonhart is the worst Final Fantasy character ever created. |

In a fictional character contest, I don't see many characters beating Batman. Actually, I don't see any. Link could, possibly Darth Vader, but that's about it. Superman wouldn't even be top 3 in Superheroes (Batman, Spiderman, Wolverine would all kill Superman easily). --- Good Times, Great Memories |

The
problem with Gambit is that he's the massive fan favorite for the 90s
cartoon, while every other character is more prominent in everything
else. He really got jipped in the new X-Men movies. Colossus! Another X-Man solidly on the B tier. People really love Colossus. X-Men has tons of depth in terms of characters. They're probably like Pokemon with that, except stronger. Oh
my god. You guys don't even look at these games contests do you? Why do
you think that people pick Link ever year, and Cloud comes second? It's
the same reason that Superman would come first and Batman would come
second in a comic book character contest. Superman represents
everything that Link represents, but he does it better. He's more well
known, and he transcends time. Superman is a much bigger cultural
figure than Batman by a mile. Also even if you take grossing into account, as when you get to that high they become pretty much the same in terms of viewership -- Superman was actually rated very highly, and enjoyed, Christopher Reeves was hugely respected for his role as Superman. Batman wasn't rated highly -- although the new one was, but Christian Bale is a joke in the second movie because of that stupid voice thing they gave him, and most of the star power is on Heath Ledger as the Joker. Batman would lose to Superman every year the same way that Cloud will always lose to Link. --- The ultimate Snow fanboy - Curt Yeah...it probably is. But I've got to do something, right? |

The
problem with Superman is that no one cares about him like they do other
superheros. They pretty much made SM as the king **** superhero without
any sort of human qualities. Nothing to connect him with the readers. I actually saw a pretty kickass youtube series with all these superheros and villains interacting with each other and **** which explains this perfectly. Wolverine -The remaining ones aren't in any particular order, but 4. Homer Simpson 5. Darth Vader 6. James Bond 7. Mickey Mouse 8. Ash Ketchum 9. Superman It gets really mixed up past Wolverine to me, and I could see tons of characters making these ranks. We should all rally for Santa Claus if we get a Fictional Character Contest though. Who wouldn't vote for Santa Claus? Who would be the most popular character to not be in a video game though? Superman
appears in plenty of things and has plenty of great qualities.
"Superman For All Seasons" is probably his most popular thing. He's
also great in Kingdom Come. But this Superman debate is really a waste. Absolutely no one thinks he's anywhere close to Batman level, except External, who keeps going on about it. How
would non-game characters do in nominations if they were allowed in the
regular contests? I could see them having a lot of trouble making the
field at all since they've never been allowed, sort of like Mega Man X.

You
guys are showing why this contest would never work. Too many strong
outside characters would kill every video game character. It would
defeat the entire purpose of this contest. Superman, Batman,
Spider-man, Darth Vader, James Bond, Goku (not sure, he would be
anti-voted to Hell and back), Homer Simpson, Michael Jordan, Tiger
Woods, maybe Mickey Mouse and probably a few others we haven't thought
of yet would all squash Link , let alone everyone else. You
guys are seriously underestimating the popularity of worldwide icons.
Link would barely be a near-elite on these guys. That being said, Crono vs. Goku, who do you pick? |

Just don't put any solely game characters in this contest. It would more than enough fun without them. I was just thinking this. Maybe integrate them in a later contest, but I'd like to see a totally fresh contest. And then the winner faces Link in a bonus match (yeah I know it's Batman > Link in all likelihood, but still). It'd be like screenplays in the Oscars, one category for Original Game Characters, one for Adapted Game Characters. --- AID |

is way past it's prime. Those characters would've been much stronger
years ago. Now they'd have faded. Goku would get crushed by any of the

I'd vote for Link over all these superheroes. --- 2010 Extrapolated Standings: Crono gets 46.85% on Sephiroth. All you need now is KH3 or SSB4, Crono. Then your quest shall be fulfilled! |

Batman/Spiderman Gandalf/Aragorn Darth Vader (but getting Anakin pics = Solid #$%@ for him) Severus Snape/Harry Potter (might be like Magus/Crono though) Homer Simpson Dracula Edward Cullen would lose the board vote to Cloud Also, any superhero except for Batman and Spiderman would underperform by at least 10% outside of North America. --- Ours is not to reason why, ours is but to do and die. |
