Dark Link would be interesting to see in the contest. He could be anywhere from near fodder (I highly doubt that) to near elite. It would depend on just how many people find him appealing. He could quite possibly be stronger than Ganondorf or Zelda if his strength is closer to what I consider the high end of it to be.

As for Lara, the NRT has a Returner slot now and it has to be filled by a character that has to "return". Ken won that spot last year, for instance. I can't think of anyone even close to Lara strength wise that would be eligible.

She did about almost exact same against Zelda as Ezio... and I don't think anyone would say that Ezio wasn't a worthy of a spot this year. So I see no reason Lara Croft shouldn't be; at worst, she's high fodder. at best, she's a low midcard. Its a lot better then guys like fAwful and Sandal.

Perhaps it's debatable, but I'm interested to see the x-stats between Lara and Drake. The original vs. the new blood. I realize both are likely very low midcards/high fodder, but you can't expect a whole lot of the returners.

Dark Link could very easily be a Link proxy. In which case, after his debut year he would make the contest's predictability rise significantly - and reduce its enjoyability accordingly.

Diddy was probably the least supported NRT guy ever though. There was a lot of outrage when he won a spot (Not ANOTHER Nintendo character!) and he didn't get a lot of support.

Ok, the thing about the NRT is that there's not too many new characters that can do anything in these contests. All the new names (Bayonetta, Nathan Drake, Ezio) are low midcarders or worse, and all the potentially strong characters have already made it in. Even the potentials in the Pokemon group have almost all been seen before.

I think we should get Goomba, Epona/Dark Link, a FF8 character, and maybe someone else interesting. There's not much else left out there.

...Holy crap. Hah! Wow, he's still got that. I'm honored :) And while that was obviously horribly tongue in cheek at the tongue, "Lord High creativename" sounds SO damn appropriate with me being #2 in the Oracle (will be #1 tonight, by a smidge) and in the top ten brackets. Man that seriously brings a smile to my face, I feel awesome suddenly :) I have no idea how I gave him that sig but if I win the Oracle I think I might dub myself "The Self-Proclaimed Lord High Creativename best. EVAR (caps)! (exclamation)" ^_^ Though perhaps that's too modest and underrates me...

Hopefully I can win my 2nd Oracle but meche and me are neck and neck with kuza a teeny bit behind and andylt lurking, and the Seph/Snake match looms large with the 5 point penalty for picking the wrong winner. If you get that wrong your chances to win are pretty much done.

It's astounding but yo, andylt, and me are all top 5 in the Oracle and top 10 in brackets. Just one person being like that so late in the contest seems very unlikely, but 3? Wow! Very surprising situation to me.

There's got to be a returner stronger than freakin' Lara Croft though. Good call by Leon on Diablo.

I'd like to see Zolom but he doesn't really deserve a rally spot, since he might flop bad.

What I really hope for is a longer series of vote-in polls for the next contest. Those do a *terrific* job at weeding out fodder and bringing in legit characters. Zolom should be in one of those. Doubt he'd win one but at least we'd get some read on him.

Someone should really tell Bacon to have a longer series of vote-in polls.

Yeah, it's weird to think about. I actually feel a lot happier about this topic and the board in general doing so well this contest than I do about my own run, which I will admit becoming a bit disinterested in when Bowser took my chances at the Guru crown to the grave with him.
