think the problem with Jigglypuff is that most people just don't care
about her. She's completely overshadowed by Kirby in Smash as the cute

Actually,
I wouldn't be surprised in the least if Rinoa ended up being the 2nd
strongest FFVIII character. Like with Squall, the hate factor for her
is pretty overrated. But then again, Captain Falcon is as strong as Sonic nowadays, so only getting doubled would be pretty respectable! --- Squall Leonhart is the worst Final Fantasy character ever created. |

Stop saying original 152, there was only 151 in the first generation. Jigglypuff gets very little support from Smash as she sucks in every version of the game, and isn't popular in the game. She's decently popular in the anime (and is very popular in Japan) but that's all the strength she has. Rinoa's
problem isn't just hate, it's that she'd have been weak back in the day
and would be even weaker now. She's had no reason to boost or even stay
remotely relevant like Squall. No exposure, nothing. She'd be going
purely off FF8 strength - and that game is old. She'd never have been

On a totally different angle, Dark Link needs to get rallied into this next year. Dark Link vs Link in the finals would be hilarious. Mido I'm not sure about other Pokemon. I think that Pikachu, Mewtwo, and Charizard had good arguments - Pikachu was the face of the series and has lost some of the stigma that it had back in, say, 2002 (when we were only four years from the release of the series in the United States and the backlash was in full swing); Mewtwo had the movie and the status as the first overused uber in the game series; Charizard seemed (at least to me) to be the face of the final evolutions of the starters, probably got the best portrayal of any of the Pokemon Ash acquired, and had that awesomely useless card in Base Set. I guess you could make an argument for, say, Jigglypuff being a mainstay of the anime and appearing in every SSB game or one of the other starters, but I just don't see them having the same intangibles / upside to them. And this is how you spot someone who knows nothing about Smash Brothers. I've owned and played all three games for years. You might use her in your tournaments and crap, but that is a small minority of Smash players. Jigglypuff was always seen as a useless character in the game. She has one good move (rollout) and one crazy move that everyone tries to hit (sleep). Everything else about her completely fails, and most normal Smash players avoid her like the plague. --- Good Times, Great Memories |

I don't think you're aware how popular Squirtle really is, no offense. Like I said, I'm only familiar with them for the SSB-series -- I was speaking of personal preference anyway. As for Jigglypuff: http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=3691 Sorry, but assuming Missingno ~= Yoshi in the Nintendo-ranks, anybody Yoshi would try to quadruple with SFF isn't somebody I really want to see. She's loved by a very select crowd in the SSB-series, but she also draws more hate than probably any other character in the series aside from Pichu. She's one of the characters I don't think anybody ever uses outside of the single-player mode unless they main her, and I don't think many do. I can't speak much about the Pokemon-side of her, but if Missingno tries to quadruple her despite never seeing the SSB-series, I don't have a lot of interest in her contest-strength. Does she even beat Mudkip with Missingno's removed? --- Picking Auron > Squall was dumb, but not as dumb as thinking I could beat Leonhart! Rufus not making the villains contest makes sense to me. I'm not even sure everybody considers him a villain. The only villain that's going to be nomed from FF7 is Sephiroth anyway. It would never have occurred to me to nominate him for the villains contest, and it's probably the same for most.
