Unless Zard gets SFFed he'll come right around the 40% area I'd think. 38%-42%. The higher end of that might need some bandwagoning, which is possible, but Mario is a tough opponent for him to bandwagon against. So maybe Mega Man saves some face after all.

But Zard>Mega is quite possible.

If you have a bonus poll for this contest (people have enjoyed the past three!), here is a suggestion bouncing around with some people if we see Link win the championship this year:


Since Link has won five previous Character Battles (2002, 2004-2006, and 2008), Legend of Zelda won the Series contest in 2006, and LoZ: Ocarina of Time won the most recent Best Game Ever contest (while LoZ: Link to the Past took third place), Link's been the most dominant character in our contests' history...and it would be fun to see how dominant he really is. Should he win a Character Battle a sixth time, what if you ran a bonus poll like this?

The four-way contests showed that characters could be "leeched" by other characters in the same poll who share similar fanbases...so that's every LoZ-character who has made a contest before, plus the contest runner-up. Is Link dominant enough to win that? Contest Stats and Discussion regulars aren't sure, which really says something about Link...! You could even add more LoZ-characters (Epona, Navi, Saria, Vaati, King of Red Lions, etc.) to add to the madness since we never had a true "Who is your favorite Legend of Zelda character?" poll before, though that may be overkill. The point is that we would REALLY like to see Link as handicapped as possible just because we still can't shake the feeling he could win such a match, so sandbagging him in a bonus poll would be a cool time to do it.


Whether you use this idea or not, I hope you still have a bonus poll!




Maybe he'll do it -- I did my part! I should have mentioned Link should be CD-i Link though.

Man, in a day or full match Sonic probably does even worse than what he ends with here.

His only hope is that the bad Zelda dead hours vote can allow him to stay above Alucard and Luigi.

Wait...why is Link SFFing freakin' Sonic harder than he did Luigi?? That makes no sense. Unless blind love of Mario characters saved Luigi a bit.

Am I the only one getting incredibly bored of these contests? I would love something different like a general character popularity contest rather than seeing the exact same game character results for the billionth time.

Many people here agree that we need to expand the entrant pool to include ALL characters who have ever appeared in a video game. That opens things up to such popular characters as Darth Vader, Han Solo, Gandalf, Batman, Spider-Man, and Homer Simpson. I think at least Batman would be able to give Link a run for his money.

Y'know, while I'm wary of using a match like this to gauge Snake/Sephiroth based on parallels weaker than Crono/Vincent trends, this match has a pretty bad implication for Snake. SFFed Sonic isn't weaker than SFFed Luigi (...no, really... he isn't), so this is about more than just SFF. Link isn't getting hit with the antivote hammer against Sonic here, very likely because Sonic is being given enough respect that traditional Link voters aren't risking giving him a pity vote. Ironically, of course, this makes Sonic look like more of a joke than ever, but if antivotes aren't out in full force when a legitimate character comes to contend that makes Snake's path through Sephiroth steeper.

The other possibility is much more comforting - between Cloud's doubling, losing to Kirby when Sephiroth was in the poll, and this match, Sonic just completely falls apart when matched up against Clinkeroth. Let's go Super Sonic Suckage =/
