As
fun as it is to think of Nintendo voters as mindless drones, they
aren't. If they were, Link and Ganon would put up similar numbers on
Sonic, but as you see tonight, the results are massively different.
Nintendo fans are quite capable of choosing which characters they like,
and they have chosen Link as their favorite. --- 2010 Extrapolated Standings: Crono gets 46.85% on Sephiroth. All you need now is KH3 or SSB4, Crono. Then your quest shall be fulfilled! |

would certainly vote for Jesus over Link, and I'd vote for Link over
Santa Claus. The third one brings up an interesting conundrum......what

When I was 10, I got an N64 with Mario 64 packaged in, and having played games for a couple years, the super amazing 3D experience blew me away. To me, Mario represents my childhood (even though, prior to that, I had had a Genesis and loved Sonic to death), and thus, I would vote him over ANYONE. Something similar probably goes with Link and a majority of people. But guys like Ganon don't evoke that. They don't symbolize their games, and they sure as hell don't symbolize childhoods. Liking them is more of a conscious choice, somewhat fueled by nostalgia. That's why there's such a power differential between them, and probably why Link is smashing Sonic. When two childhood icons like them meet, something ugly like this happens due to the overlap between them. --- Placeholder anti-capslock sig. |

Name a character who has gotten more in this generation. Mario has gotten Mario Kart DS, Brawl, Super Mario Galaxy, Mario Kart Wii, and both the DS and Wii installments of New Super Mario Bros. ...granted, only MKDS and Galaxy seem to be highly acclaimed around here. My point exactly. Eh, I'd hesitate to take Guybrush over Luke fon Fabre, but Jade (as long as it isn't the Mortal Kombat version...) Now we're talking about someone who's on Guybrush's level. Maybe if Layle(final fantasy crystal bearers) got into the contest...I would take Guybrush over him. The thought of Guybrush beating a final fantasy main character(I don't care if it's a spin off) would be too awesome for me to ignore. Could Guybrush get 40% on Vaan? --- B8 Liar Game |
