Yeah, the sprite picture did not hurt Snake at all, Pikachu should beat Squall with relative ease and is on his way to challenge the low tier N9. Let's constantly bring up Pikachu's performance to judge Snake's strength because that match is completely legit.

So I guess that means Sonic owns two of the three worst performances by Noble Niners 1-on-1 of all time (the other being Mega Man against Link in 2004)?

You know, I just realized...Snake is the only non-Clinkeroth Noble Niner never to be held under 40% 1-on-1. Huh. He never faced Clinkeroth when he was the weak link in the chain though. I wonder if he could break 40% on Link. I think he could do it on Cloud with relative ease.

So after all is said and done, was Sonic more of an embarrassment to the Noble Nine than Crono? Crono broke it, but for some reason I feel that performance looks a lot better than this one by Sonic today.

Samus has no chance against Cloud.

I don't think Snake is stronger than Sephiroth, but with the toolbox anti-votes that happen now, he could make it a lot closer than I'd like.

Going off what we've seen, I'd say Samus will come closer to Cloud than Snake will to Sephiroth.

Next year, assuming Link is taken out of the bracket, is going to be FUN. Samus and Mario will get boosts, Cloud and Seph will continue to decay. Assuming correct bracket placement Clinkeroth will be broken.

Snake just isn't strong enough to do it though I think. He's clearly in the top 6, but he isn't going to match any of them and won't be seeing any more major boosts by the looks of things.

The good thing is this exposes Kirby for the not-near-elite-or-really-that-close-to-near-elite contender that he is. The bad thing is Vivi looks much less impressive. :(

As for Sonic himself... hope you've been badly SFF'd, bro.

Also Crono did OK.

Missingno was pretty beastly to be honest, and Crono came off looking very good-no weaker than he was in 2008(discounting that year's blatant cheating).

Crono ended up at 47% on Sephiroth. That's not embarrassing at all. And Crono fans can always pretend that MissingNo. could have been an NNer if it had gotten in since 2002.
Sonic was supposed to get beat bad here, but this is just bad. Sonic fans had to expect much better, so this is a much worse performance.

Barring some bad SFF in Cloud/Sephiroth, Yoshi's going to end up higher in the stats than Mario.

In terms of strength, Crono is stronger than Sonic, but we already thought before the contest. Crono's match with Missingno was definitely more embarassing though, because he actually broke the Noble Nine.

Its funny, because people were generally happy that Sonic beat Ganondorf/Kirby, and thought it was a good performance. Then he fails to break 30% on the elf God, and its "LOL SNOIC" again :/

At least he didn't break the NN!

Eh, that wastes Missingno, and I don't think Crono/X would've been as epic as Missingno upsetting the N9 and giving Sephiroth a good fight.

Crono had a good year in 2008, and Missingno was far from a weakling, so I don't think he did that bad. Neither did Sonic, to be honest, since he effortlessly took care of Ganondorf and Kirby, plus you can argue he's getting SFFed and having his casual fanbase leeched by Link.

It's really hard to say which N9ers have been weak, since they've either had a mix of impressive and crap performances or have been simply all impressive (Samus, Mario, Mega Man). Lots of weird factors at work, the biggest of which probably being the increased significance of anti-votes. We'll probably see the Link and Cloud of old next round.

We'd miss out on Crono/Missingno, which was my 2nd favorite match of the year(behind Ryu > Dante). He would probably get bizzaro-SFF'd into submission by the elf God anyway.

I can't believe this contest is over by Sunday. This thing synced up so well with my college semester, and that's one less thing to look forward to :/

He beats Price, crushes the everliving **** out of Red, and probably won't even break 40% on Link. He wouldn't have the same level of hype beating Price and Red as he did beating ****ing Crono and Yoshi that caused him to overperform on Sephiroth.
