I realize that rSFF is a controversial theory, mainly because there isn't a good method to determine when it will happen instead of SFF. But Tifa/Sephiroth being a pair for potential rSFF isn't that surprising.

Here's my expectations for Cloud/Samus and Snake/Sephiroth:

Cloud vs. Samus
----------------------------

Samus hangs with Cloud, perhaps even builds a decent sized lead, over the first two hours. Cloud starts making gains after that.

4am-6am Cloud 60/40's Samus.

The morning comes and Cloud 55/45's Samus. Omnislash, game over.

Cloud finishes with what would normally be a very embarrassing percentage for him, well under 55%, very possibly as low as 51.50%-52%. However in terms of votes the match ends up not being close. I see this as Sephiroth/Missingo deja vu.

Snake vs. Sephiroth
----------------------------

Snake leads Sephiroth for 3-6 updates. 30 minutes in Sephiroth starts getting regular 52% or better updates.

75 minutes in, and the match is a foregone conclusion for Sephiroth.

I really doubt that. Aeris wouldn't get Tifa's support but she should easily win the board vote over Sephiroth as an average character would I think.

This is Sephiroth getting a lower percentage against Tifa in her worse time than Snake got against Squall in Squall's better time. Obviously, I still don't buy this match being legit and there's no way Tifa is this strong under normal circumstances, but this is (partially, anyway) a product of people wanting the late-game upset, and there is nothing going on today or in the next three matches (good luck, Samus) that'll quench their thirst for contest craziness. Snake has a great shot.

Is this even an outlier results? So far we've seen Sephiroth let Vincent get 39% on him in a match tailor-made for him to score some big SFF (and if you assume that he DID SFF Vincent, this match looks a lot less weird). Then he let Missingno lead him for several hours. Now he's struggling to break 55% against Tifa.

How many more excuses are we going to make for the guy before we acknowledge that he's very, very vulnerable?

Valid point. Sephiroth looked terrible for much of the Villain Contest yet made Mario with momentum look like he couldn't beat Bowser without a struggle. It still doesn't change that Sephiroth's been fairly disappointing. I'll give him credit for beating Marth worse than Cloud beat Ridley, but nobody's taking Sephiroth > Cloud despite that. Missingno's a wildcard that's hard to take seriously for comparisons too, though props for beating the most threatening joke since L-Block. Vincent and Tifa are SFF-matches so we shouldn't hold it entirely against Sephiroth against non-Square opponents like Solid Snake, but Vincent/Tifa are both impressing compared to expectations and their previous matches in the four-way format. It doesn't help him that Cloud doesn't look as strong as he used to, either.

Sephiroth gets to prove himself against Solid next round...and he may win, but it's likely not going to be like when Seph beat Mario. New-Square in general doesn't look as strong as it used to and Solid just gave Squall his biggest beating from their four-part rivalry since 2002. Solid **** shouldn't be a factor either, so I think we're in for a good match.
