Was Snake winning the board vote ever in question? This is FF we're talking about against Snake. Snake is one of the most loved characters on this board. It's weird but whatever. He'll level out as the night goes on. But a night match coupled with 12 hours gives Squall virtually no chance of beating Snake. With a day vote it could be somewhat different.

That's why I'm rooting for Cloud now, but AFTER the Cloud/Ryu match ^_^. They better Snake/Cloud does, the better our favorite characters look.

I think Charizard beating Bowser so comfortably is proof that he is a near-elite.

Even with the uneven match pick, Pikachu looks like he could give Squall a good fight, if not be the favorite. Weird as hell, but I'm certainly not complaining!

Squall will do well in Europe, once they wake up over there.

The sprite picture may be worth even more than 6%- Frog/Snake was more than that, and Pokemon has shown evidence of being stronger in sprite rounds too, so it doesn't even have to be all Snake.

Pikachu doing well makes Crono's division look good, so I'm happy with that. Samus, Crono, Vincent, Pikachu, Ryu, Alucard, Captain Falcon. YES!

Snake got ROCKED by three Nintendo characters in a row, and then wins it against Snake. He'll probably win it against Sephiroth. He had all the momentum going into the Samus match, yet lost. His 2008 run was bandwagoned more than it was Nintendo support.

Yeah, his new popularity is a Nintendo boost. Can't be doubted anymore. It also means he'll probably drop a bit until the next Smash.

If I had to choose right now, I'd take Pikachu > Squall.

Charizard has been beyond amazing, and pokémon is going through an enormous renaissance. It was not pure joke power that beat Crono. A pokémon beat Crono.

Dunno how huge this pokemon renaissance will be next year, or in two years, or whenever, so I'd have to reevaluate at that time.

And call me a stubborn holdout that still believes the picture accounts for 2% maximum, <.5% usually.
