According
to 2006, Samus rose until the dead hours, where Zelda dominated until
the morning vote, where Samus rose again. Of course, in that match
there was pretty much no difference in percentage anyway, with very
high 54% being the minimum and low 56% being max in the first twelve
hours. Not sure how Samus has been doing this match, though, but I
think she's making bigger swings than her 2006 match already. --- Not Wylvane |

given that Vincent was able to hold up against Sephiroth and Falco and
Ike seemed to have held up against Mario, I find it very hard to
believe that our first real big bad SFF-fest between full-on
Nintendo/Square would be in Samus's favor of all characters. Especially against a character she failed to SFF before, a major LoZ-character. Cloud better break Ryu in two, because Cloud has failed to definitively impress me more than Samus in any given round. Frankly, I thought Sephiroth's beating on Marth was more impressive than Cloud's on Ridley or maybe even CF...so, though we can't say anything definitive about Vincent or Missingno, this isn't the first time this contest somebody has looked more impressive than Cloud. It doesn't help that Cid and Zack each look a lot worse after the beating Mega Man took, though it's questionable how fair it is to say that... ...but still, new Square has generally not been looking so well and FF7 hasn't been an exception. The KH-series apparently fell this year and Cloud/Sephiroth were big selling points when it first began. Creative's been putting in interesting arguments about Samus/Cloud being fairly even at night instead of being definitively in Cloud's favor. If it actually happens to be close, it could be the match of the contest. It's hard to consider Samus > Cloud after all these years of Clinkeroth and 2004's beat-down...but maybe the times are a-changin'. --- Picking Auron > Squall was dumb, but not as dumb as thinking I could beat Leonhart! be surprised if Sephiroth beat Cloud. That would mean, to me, that
people were anti-voting Cloud with Sephiroth, and...I don't see that

think the only way we could see a Sephiroth > Cloud result is if the
FFVII remake gets done. The theory has been bounced around before, but
it makes sense that villains and side characters would lose more
popularity over time compared to a game's main character. Just look at
how far Aeris has fallen from the days of 47% on Sonic. Or Magus, who
has clearly fallen a ton even ignoring the fluke against Link. People

Also,
not only has Zelda resisted SFF before, but Ganon has too...and judging
the relationship of Frog and Midna from Charizard's division (she gets
44.79% on him) and the vote-ins (42.21%) to their 2007-match with Samus
in the poll (41.87%), it doesn't look like Samus affected Midna much
there either. Oh, and she's held up to Link a few times too, so it'd be
pretty easy to think there's not a lot of unbalanced overlap going on. I don't think many people are calling for SFF, but it's worth ensuring that this is a pretty legit beating being dished on Zelda. She's not looked so hot this year so that may change some things, but it's on Cloud to show up against Ryu. --- Picking Auron > Squall was dumb, but not as dumb as thinking I could beat Leonhart! Granted, I'm drunk, so I'm not talking 100% logically here. Still, I think Sephiroth > Cloud is feasible at this point, because Seph has been looking much better compared to Cloud. I know this is ridiculous as hell to bring up, but Sephiroth did a better job resisting Missingno than Cloud did bandwagoned Snake. Yeah, R2 wasn't impressive, and R3, well, is impossible to really use because of Missingno, but ~70% on Marth is decent when your rival can't even do the same to Captain Falcon. Say, what do previous x-stats have to say as far as Falcon, Ridley, and Marth are concerned? --- Not Wylvane |

I'm
pretty open-minded about these things, but the tag-team format has
always sounded bad. I say either let Vader and Batman in immediately or
wait one more year (hopefully for a better designed Character Battle

Not
all fictional characters, but all video game characters regardless of
first appearance would be best. Most popular fictional characters have
probably been in video games anyway, but that would give it some
