Pokemon fans may prefer Charizard to Pikachu, but this isn't a Pokemon site, not everyone has played Pokemon, but even non-Pokemon fans know about Pikachu.

You don't have to have played Pokemon to know who Charizard is considering he is the most popular starter of all time, is popular in the television series, movies, and is the most popular trading card as well.

Or it just guarantees that Snake has dropped off (and it's much more likely that he has, than that Pikachu has suddenly become elite strength level).

Keep in mind that my argument doesn't hinge on Squall beating Snake -- it hinges on Bowser beating Charizard with 55% or more.

I think Sonic deserves some credit from this contest. And if you guys really want to go there solid **** Snake 2008 is projected to get 63% on Pikachu. So I don't see how you can argue for Snake in this case. The reality is that he just did really, really bad against Pikachu. It's likely that his hype, and new games have worn off and he's back to being one of the lower tier N9ers. If I had to order it right now I would go...

Actually I just think that Snake has dropped off. But nice of you to attempt to get into my head. Once again being wrong, of course.

My Snake is weaker than he was a couple years ago argument is based solely on his performance against Pikachu. And his most recent performance with his Solid **** sprite was only 6% below where he was expected to get based on 2k6.

Also if you look at all his performances in the past...

Assuming Frog dropped slightly in 2005 from 2004 it gives a variance of about 6% if you use a constant Ganondorf. Even without a drop slight variance between characters can account for the other 2%.

Bowser is pretty self-explanatory. I would assume people can see Bowser getting a legit 44% on Snake taking away the sprite picture.

I don't see why Ryu getting 42% after being the #10 character the year before is anything but expected. But ok, I don't think you could ever expect Snake to better that performance that year by 6%, but let's just assume he could.

Yoshi and Luigi are supposedly about the same strength. So taking that into account Yoshi over-performed against Snake in 2006 by...almost exactly 6%. Interesting.

I dunno why you would bring Aeris up -- that's just a good performance by Snake at the time considering how she continued to perform the next year.

So based on almost every contest you can see that the variance from the Solid **** picture to the regular Snake is almost always around 6%. Outside of following these contests, I knew who Pikachu was and didn't know who Charizard was.

Right but the night vote has been a bit different this year due to people knowing it's a 12 hour poll. So it can't account for that much. Plus Sonic is stronger during the day than the night himself. It's hard to say that Ganondorf would have done any better in a 24 hour match, or a 12 hour day match.

Hey, it's that dog!

Oh man, so I just realized that ever since I started making these brackets, I've always screwed up Sonic's path (2004 being the only exception). I had Sonic > Mega Man in 2005, Sonic > Smash Bros in the Series contest, Sonic > Mega Man in 2006 (Snake had to screw that up, but I did call Sonic > Crono!), Snake > Sonic in the first four way (damn you L Block), Seph > Sonic last contest (damn you Kirby!), and Kirby > Sonic this year (damn you Kirby!).

I don't know what it is with Sonic, but he always finds a way to screw me over no matter what.

Manipulating past results. Cloud beat Link, Mario beat Cloud, Sephiroth/Crono beat Mario, Vincent/L Block beat Crono while Kirby/Snake beat Sephiroth, etc.

I was trying to be as objective as possible when getting the 6% thing from the Snake Sprite picture.

Also yes the 2k6 was the Twilight Princess hyped Ganondorf, but keep in mind that since 2k6 TP has been released, and SSBB has also been released. Two games that give Ganondorf some staying power if nothing else. It's not unreasonable to believe he is at 2k5 levels.

Anyway, ASSUMING this is true the following can happen: (take this with a grain of salt)

Snake should beat Squall with 52% of the vote.

Bowser should beat Charizard with just over 55% of the vote (which assuming the 2k8 x-stats are true, will happen, and Charizard = Pikachu).

Now assuming that Bowser is actually worth more than 55% on Charizard, and Charizard > Pikachu Squall could actually win.
