Good show by Big Daddy. After his run in the contest, I'm not surprised he's relatively close to Gordon. I wouldn't think Peach would beat Ness by that much. I don't think he'll end up above Gordon by the end though.

Squall Leonhart is the worst Final Fantasy character ever created.

Division Rankings

8 - Jenova - Worst division since Hyrule 2004. Not even Missingno's three matches saved this; this was a terrible division all around. Vincent and Tifa were completely wasted, and Soap/Daddy/Ness/Geno is the weakest fourpack in years.

7 - Chaos - Kind of a letdown. A lot of people expected Sonic to flop hard and break the NN this contest, but the entire division will likely go as expected. The best match was a 1 point round 1 affair in which the massive guru favorite ended up winning anyway.

6 - Mushroom - Other than Master Flop, there's nothing in this division of note. Everything was very predictable (no one was even surprised at Master Flop's act this year), and the one good match (Zidane/Ike) was decided by the format before it even started. Could potentially be saved by a Mega Man > Mario upset, but that seems very unlikely.

5 - Gear - Auron/Squall was a good match, but Squall potentially getting fed to Snake for a third time wasted it a little. Beyond that, only Terra being stronger than expected and Solid **** were cool.

4 - Hyrule - A division with Link can only offer so much, but the Cube/Boss upsets and Red/Ocelot were good matches.

3 - Varia - This division featured a 13 seed and a 14 seed win twice, plus it also had Ezio bombing hard.

2 - Midgar - Very fun division, although somewhat stemmed with 3 Capcom elites all on one side. Riku getting upset by FALCON PUNCH was cool, and we had SUPER BOWL TRENDS, HOCKEY FACTOR'D and legit Resident Evil Gaiden all in one division.

1 - Heart - Easily the most fun of all, with L-Block making another run, Charizard making a run to stop L-Block's run, and then Bowser potentially making a huge run to stop THAT run, on top of the only 1 seed to not make the final 8.

Probably not even the weakest fourpack of the contest. I'd take Daddy/Ness/Soap/Geno over Jecht/Phoenix/Ratchet/Riggs.

Which ones are bad? Only things that come to mind are the weird-ass Sonic/Kirby and Mario/Mega pics. Te rest are just AMAZING.

Stars and Turds of Round 3: Top Half

Star of the Half – Mega Man
After seeing the picture it was quite obvious that Mega Man was going to over perform. Not only did he over perform he broke 70% on Hayabusa. Hayabusa has come a long way from getting blown like that yet here’s Mega Man getting a huge blowout that added life to the Mario/Mega Man debates. I’m not sure why people think Mega Man is in the same tier as Sonic and Crono, but I hope the last three rounds have shown just how powerful Mega Man is.

Runner-up – Sonic the Hedgehog
Pre-contest it was debatable whether or not Sonic would win his third round match. Even before the match a lot of people thought the main reason Sonic would win was because of the picture and having the match at night. While it probably did contribute to Sonic’s over performance I don’t think anyone, but the very stubborn would think Sonic would lose with a fair picture with the day. It’s a shame that the Noble Nine is broken; it would have been interesting to see Sonic keeping it alive.

Turd of the Half – Sora
The warning bells were there and people chose to ignore it. Sure people brought up that Bowser had a great chance, but the main thing is that a lot of people still thought Sora was easily going to win this match. Bowser took the match with absolute ease and didn’t even slow down during the morning. Like with Ganondorf only the very stubborn would argue that Sora could have won had this been a day match. I think this proves that Sora needs Kingdom Hearts 3 if he wants to be anywhere near Vincent level.

Runner-up – Weighted Companion Cube
People were able to make excuses last round, but not this time. While no one expected the cube to win it was a popular idea that the cube would at least put up a decent performance against Luigi. Instead Luigi put up almost 65% on it putting the final nail in its coffin. To put this into perspective Cloud was only barely able to double WCC last contest. Portal may still be a popular game, but it seems that the joke has died.
