We've seen larger swings in older contests. DK/Duck Hunt had a huge won, and Duck Hunt didn't even win.

And of course, there's Vincent/Crono, and Crono/Sonic. And matches involving Magus probably had some huge ones as well.

In terms of vote swing I'm pretty sure the biggest in Sonic/Crono. Almost 4000 votes.

That said, I wonder what it would be like to get a legitimate rally for Sonic. Tapping into his unused fanbase around the world. What are the chances that he could possibly even win the contest if the rally was strong enough (covering twitter, facebook, and other such popular social networking sites).

I think I'm going to try it. To see Sonic beat Link...even if he lost the next round to Mario, would make the contest golden forever.

Kirby and Charizard are actually the favorites at this point, and Kirby already beat Sonic last year. Supporting Sonic and Bowser is probably a better way to stick it to the establishment.

Okay, quick look at the next round.

Link/Luigi: Luigi doesn't deserve this.

Sonic/Kirby: After seeing Ganondorf completely drop the ball Sonic doesn't look so bad anymore, Lightning or no Lightning, pig or no pig. Kirby's done... okay. He might have a surprise in store for us, though.

Mario/Mega Man: Eh, it COULD be good, but Mega Man has a history of being SFFed by Nintendo elite. Mega Man 10 might be of some help.

Bowser/Charizard: Match of the round potential here alongside the previous two fights. Despite Pokemon's good year, only one of the five is still here. Match picture must involve lots of fire.

Samus/Zelda: If I'm remembering right this was 55/45 in the Female Bracket. I doubt Zelda can do that again - Samus has been great so far this year and Jecht managed to look okay against Zelda.

Cloud/Ryu: Ryu's had a great run. His performance here may be a sign of how Cloud will fare when facing Samus.

Snake/Squall: Was that Pikachu scare legit or was it all due to pic factor? Squall can help us figure that out. He has an outside shot at winning but I just can't see it.

Sephiroth/Tifa: Not a fan of SFF matches like this. Bacon, keep the FF7 characters spread apart a bit more, hey? It'll at least be interesting to see whether Tifa can do better than Vincent.

I was a bit worried that Missingno wouldn't do anything with the morning vote after seeing Snake crush Pikachu with it, and looks like I was right. Oh well, I knew Sephiroth still had a great chance. Missingno did give one hell of a performance, but it simply wasn't enough at this point.

As for whether Missingno can win a day match, it's possible. It would have Pokemon's sick ASV, and despite people saying lower votals would help rallies, in reality the votals aren't that much lower compared to the number of people who would actually be available to be rallied, so rallies would be more effective in the day (yes, I'm flip-flopping!). Sephiroth would only have two or three hours to build a lead, depending on how Missingno does the first hour, and then Missingno could erase it with the ASV. Of course, I don't know who'd win the night vote, but if Missingno could build a big enough lead with the kiddies he could pull it off. Of course, Missingno's vote-in poll suggests otherwise, since he did closely the same in the first and second halves of the poll, but then again who knows what LFF would do there?

And Sephiroth will crush Snake with ease, but I can't believe you guys think Shepard's still weak after what ME2 did to him, how heavily hyped it was, and even after he tripled a guy without joke SFF or whatever. Not to mention Shepard being underrated to begin with due to Last Place Factor in one of the closest and craziest matches of 2008. Snake should have no trouble with Squall.

Hmm. Not sure about that. Kirby over Sonic would break the Noble Nine even further, this time with an established, "normal" character beating a N9 member in 1v1. And I really don't see Charizard as a favorite right now - Bowser's a tough one. I want Charizard to win so the SFF with Mario isn't so bad because I'm really interested to find out just where Charizard stands.

In any case, though, I love all four characters so I'll be okay with any possible result. =D

This is like the fiftieth time I've been a couple points away from the leaderboard too, though Bowser/Charizard will be my death blow unless a ton of people picked Snake over Seph!

Finally caught up. I can't believe Missingno got blasted with the morning vote, when Red beat Ocelot with it. It's like the ralliers woke up and lost all hope. I was hoping for a little more fight, but MN probably would have challenged in a day match. Can't say I'm that upset though, I'm probably the only person on this board that likes Sephy as much as Ex does.

Sonic is the favorite, but Kirby still has a great shot. We've already seen Pikachu go from 61% on Shep to 45% on Snake; I can easily see Sonic crushing Baconface and falling flat against Kirby. He'll start off in a hole, and it's no guarantee that he'll be able to climb out of it.

Of course, it comes down to whether Vivi could beast deboosted Bacondorf, and it is hard to think that even that version of Ganondorf would be that weak.

I'd *love* a contest where a near/elite character caught a so-called joke rally and managed to win with it. Not like Snake falling short last year, I mean a full-on win. How cool would it be for someone like Squall or Mega Man to randomly catch fire and win a legit-field contest for no reason?

Probably not too much higher due to Missingno's ASV potentially canceling out whatever gains Sephiroth gets in the second half. I think Missingno could likely rally 2000 votes with its ASV.

How many votes did red compute that Missingno rallied during its match with Crono?

I think Missingno could likely rally 2000 votes with its ASV.

I doubt it'd have that much rallying power left, honestly. Plus, Sephiroth is getting 55%+ hours and he's still below 53% of the vote. He'll be going up for a long time.

By the way, I was thinking of adjusting Crono based off of Vincent (though I don't know if there was any SFF there or not, but it was minimal if it did exist). It may not be entirely accurate, but more accurate than what he has now. Not that it really matters, these stats are going to be trash anyway. I'll still have raw stats though, so red sox can rejoice over Crono > Mario for the second contest in a row!

No idea how I'm going to adjust Luigi, Yoshi, and Bowser though, especially if Bowser beats the 'Zard.

if it was Crono vs Seph here, would Crono have a similar % against Seph, or at least somewhat close (like, have seph below 55%)?

Sora/Alucard was a deadlocked match all night long, and it was very close the entire way.
