I'm also partial to the Char/Bowser Pokemon pic and the Mario/MM with the sprite comparison(I'm a huge sucker for those. Showcases the character's history and what makes them such a timeless icon of gaming).

TRE needs to explain that for me.

I don't mind getting snubbed for the Link and Mario sets, because everyone else made better pictures. But those Sonic pics getting picked over mine is just weird, and I might have stopped making pics altogether if I got nothing in. I put a lot of effort in =/

Charmeleon evolves at Lv36. You can't get a Lv33 Charizard without cheating. Well I guess you can with Missingno.. A Lv33 Charizard with 169 Max HP is completely impossible without cheating.

Stars and Turds of Round 3: Bottom Half

Star of the Half – Jecht
While it was a popular idea that Jecht may have benefitted by the release of Final Fantasy XIII on the day of the match I don’t think anyone expected him to break 40% on Zelda. Jecht has a really good chance at being stronger than Tidus in the x-stats and while that was a popular idea on the board I don’t think many people were serious about that happening. I hope we see him again in another contest just to see where he really ranks.

Runner-up – Samus Aran
While most of the Noble Nine is struggling to blowout their competition Samus seems to have no problems doing so. You could play down her performance against Jill last round, but her performance against the established Sub-Zero proves that she is one of the few characters that can blow out their opponents. While people joke around about the upset against Cloud her performances over the past few rounds suggest that she’ll at least put a scare into him.

Turd of the Half – Solid Snake
You could blame the picture all you want, but in the end you let Pikachu lead against you for 20 minutes and then perform worse against him compare to Yoshi despite having Metal Gear Solid 4 under your belt. His board vote is also terrible in this contest; it’s almost as bad as Final Fantasy VII’s. Unless you think Pikachu over performs with a sprite you have to consider that Snake would be endanger against other near-elites. The last time he went up against one in the sprite round was Bowser all the way back in 2005.

Runner-up – Cloud Strife
While Cloud is famous for his bad start it doesn’t really excuse him from failing to break 70% against Captain Falcon in a night match. Like some of the other characters Cloud hasn’t been his dominant self in this contest and I’m not sure whether or not he’s weaker this year or because this is anti-blowoutFAQs. I guess his match against Ryu will tell the tale.

2010 Extrapolated Standings: Crono gets 46.85% on Sephiroth.
All you need now is KH3 or SSB4, Crono. Then your quest shall be fulfilled!

Doesn't seem like Big Daddy is going to be able to reach 40% here. Tifa had a pretty good SNV last round and that should be a stop to Big Daddy's push for 40%.

It's a long way up from losing soundly to Balthier to ~40% on Tifa. It'll be interesting to see how much of BD's newfound strength he holds onto next time round.

Analysis

Welcome to the fourth round and as usual with this contest we start off with an easy Link victory. With Missingno out of the way not much is stopping Link from winning the contest. All that is left to do is see what Link performs on his opponents. Like in previous rounds I expect Link to underperform to what we are use to in previous contests.

While Square characters have been having trouble SFF each other Nintendo, or Mario in particular has been able to SFF his opponents. I believe that Link is capable of the same thing and has a great chance at SFF Luigi. It won’t be as bad as what he did against Yoshi in 2004, but it should be noticeable enough. On the other hand it is possible that the voters know that Link will win easily and give some support to Luigi avoiding SFF all together.

In a non-SFF situation Luigi should be able to just break 30% on Link, but with the way Link has been performing plus this being a night match Luigi could go as high as mid-30s and I wouldn’t be surprised. Still I would be disappointed in Link if he didn’t SFF Luigi so breaking 70% is the most likely possibility.

I'll do good pics in the later rounds... been busy as of late. Sonic vs Kirby didn't take much work but Mario vs Mega Man actually took a decent 20 minutes with all the touch-ups and rendering I had to do. Lots of tweaks and finding a good font for Mega Man, too.
