After all this time, I think I forgot just how terrible your opinions were.

I mean, dear Lord, that is the single worst opinion I've heard this week, and earlier this week I heard from a Christian zealot that we shouldn't bother attempting to save the environment from the impact of climate change because the Rapture and the events of Revelation were going to happen in our lifetimes anyway, thus nullifying everything as Jesus would restore the Earth.

A big purpose of Christianity is spreading the love of God's message. Don't those people realize acting like zealots has the exact opposite effect?

Guess I'll start, guys.

My name is Yoblazer. I'm 24 years old. I actually played tons of Pokemon before I had even seen the MGS series in action. I first played in 1998, although my younger brother was a much bigger fan. It all started when I learned "a little bit" with regards to Pokemon card value, just to make sure little bro didn't get ripped off when trading. Soon, I was just as into it as he was. We traded the cards, watched the show, and played the game, although legitimately leveling the Pokes was tough work, so we made liberal use of the Missingno trick.

A few years later, I had discovered MGS, a series I thought was superior in many ways. Still, I was a big Pokemon fan. It was not until a few years later, when I was in my late teens, that my warm feelings for Pokemon began to wane. After a several-year long sabbatical, I decided to do a second playthrough of Gold/Silver, this time aided via an emulator with a speed-up function, making leveling up a much more manageable endeavor. Despite this, the magic that I had once known as an indelible part of the series was gone. There was nothing fun about these battles, nothing fun about leveling up, nothing fun about spending countless hours playing a game with very plot and monotonous gameplay. I stopped loving Pokemon and began feeling guilty over all the money my brother and I cost our dad with those Pokemon cards. I haven't had a serious sit-down session with Pokemon since then.

In the meantime, I've become a bigger MGS fan, playing through the first three MGS games many times (Twin Snakes moreso than the original MGS, sorry). It's a fantastic series with great characters, memorable characters, and it doesn't give me guilt.

Tonight is pretty lame, but I think I can manage with all you fine folks lending me a shoulder.

...In retrospect, however, the concept that an amazing work of artistic beauty and creative ingenuity would utterly escape Ulti's grasp seems somewhat fitting.

...I think I've reverted to thinking of Ulti as something of a cross between Homer Simpson and Peter from Family Guy. That's the kind of guy you'd expect to jump up and shout the supposed virtues of something as inherently repetitive, narratively incohesive, and pathetically ludicrous as Pokemon while remaining utterly blind to the incomparable joys of SotC.

...This is precisely the line of reasoning that explains why this site has fallen from such great heights during the era of the 2K2 and 2K3 contests.

I mean do you guys remember those days? They were awesome precisely because every other topic involved Aeon Azuran, Amazing Telephone, Wvylane, Shake, Semifinal, me, fr0q, Shadow Ryoko, maplejet, and about twelve dozen more infamous posters bashing the crap out of each other. It was glorious. Glorious, I tell you!
