Missingno? Charizard? Pikachu over freakin' Solid Snake? What is this, PokeFAQs? I leave GameFAQs for a year or so and look what happens. Everything goes to hell. It's clear that I was an essential factor in preventing all of you from losing your collective taste in superior storytelling and well-crafted narratives. It's like I've awakened in a parallel universe in which everyone has collectively lost their minds and twelve year olds have taken over the site. ...It's this kind of result that honestly makes me feel B8 has moved well beyond my capability of comprehension. It's a distant memory, fading...into oblivion...and some faint, pale imitation has dared to rise in its place. |

just pointing out that you do care about making them or you wouldn't
have made so many so recently. Or you would have waited until they ran

is statistically a 50% game. There's a proof of it somewhere...you can
try to have 'skill,' but any perceived skill is a function of one of
the following: a) choosing the correct strategy for a particular opponent set a la rock paper scissors b) people liking you more than other people in the game (this includes whining to get certain players to accept you over other players) It took me several years of playing mafia to figure this out, but I finally did. Ridiculous special role sets are the only way to keep the game interesting nowadays. You're just rationalizing your many defeats at my hands! |

Well that was damn fun while it lasted, but Snake should end this looking relatively decent. On pic factor, I used to dismiss it for people like Snake or Kefka, but it's impossible to think that way anymore. Superior Storytelling and Well-Crafted Narratives? But Shepard did just fine this year! Isn't Shepard out of the tournament already? He/she should have lasted until the finals against Snake. Unless the Nameless One from Planescape: Torment is around. Or maybe Magus. But I digress. Snake losing against Pikachu for ten minutes alone is more than enough to convince me that GameFAQs needs to be put out of its misery. It's past its prime. Its best days are over. It's a mere dissonant fragment of its former self, drifting into an endless sea of madness. |

Snake
will still end up winning easily, and it's the sprite round. Ever since
L-Block in 2007, Gamefaqs has looked for stuff to bandwagon constantly.
Snake was on the good end of one of those bandwagons last year, and
beat Cloud with it. The trend is annoying, but since Missingno beat
Crono, I just want everything to burn this year. We can start again on

This is more me just poking my head in to scream that you've all failed and that Armageddon is coming and seriously, Hideo Kojima should kick all your asses. I always keep tabs on the Solid Snake matches for grins and giggles, but this atrocity stands among a select few as the worst ever unleashed upon humanity. (It probably doesn't help that I really, really, really, really, really hate Pokemon. Someone has to.) |

This was a serious bandwagon/momentum attempt, and Snake will have survived it pretty easily unless outside forces step in and work all night. I'm hoping Sephiroth and Bowser squash the other two (although Bowser's chances look bleak indeed, that just means Charizard will get stomped against Mario). If all three of the Pokemon go down, guess what the last bandwagon attempt is. And that is one of the reasons why I picked Snake>Seph. Wander, ICO, and Yorda are deities descended from the planes of perfect artwork and they are too beautiful to be contained in something as trivial as a popularity contest. Do not demean the works of a modern da Vinci by suggesting they'd stoop to engage in a brawl with the likes of Pikachu. They're too busy lighting the eyes of children and setting the world aflame in the passion and serenity of their games, swirling amongst us likes the dalliances of poets, blowing against our tear-stricken cheeks with kisses of rapture, its philosophical and theological ramifications well beyond the meager comprehension of immature brats ripping apart enemy soldiers with rocket launchers in Halo. |

villain's contest back? Obviously not Summer 2004 or the Villains Contest, but those were bad for entirely different reasons. I'm all for fun, and fun requires legitimacy. Why was Pikachu leading Snake today so fun (or horrifying for Snake fans)? Because we know that Snake is strong, much stronger than Pikachu should be, that's why. I mean, dear Lord, that is the single worst opinion I've heard this week, and earlier this week I heard from a Christian zealot that we shouldn't bother attempting to save the environment from the impact of climate change because the Rapture and the events of Revelation were going to happen in our lifetimes anyway, thus nullifying everything as Jesus would restore the Earth. |

I first played in 1998, although my younger brother was a much bigger fan. It all started when I learned "a little bit" with regards to Pokemon card value, just to make sure little bro didn't get ripped off when trading. Soon, I was just as into it as he was. We traded the cards, watched the show, and played the game, although legitimately leveling the Pokes was tough work, so we made liberal use of the Missingno trick. A few years later, I had discovered MGS, a series I thought was superior in many ways. Still, I was a big Pokemon fan. It was not until a few years later, when I was in my late teens, that my warm feelings for Pokemon began to wane. After a several-year long sabbatical, I decided to do a second playthrough of Gold/Silver, this time aided via an emulator with a speed-up function, making leveling up a much more manageable endeavor. Despite this, the magic that I had once known as an indelible part of the series was gone. There was nothing fun about these battles, nothing fun about leveling up, nothing fun about spending countless hours playing a game with very plot and monotonous gameplay. I stopped loving Pokemon and began feeling guilty over all the money my brother and I cost our dad with those Pokemon cards. I haven't had a serious sit-down session with Pokemon since then. In the meantime, I've become a bigger MGS fan, playing through the first three MGS games many times (Twin Snakes moreso than the original MGS, sorry). It's a fantastic series with great characters, memorable characters, and it doesn't give me guilt.
