LTTP's day vote isn't exactly good either- nothing from before the PS/N64 really has a good day vote, except Zelda 1 since it gets lots of votes from OOT and later fans. It's true that CT's day vote wasn't horrible in 2004, but I don't recall any other matches where it actually won the day vote over an opponent either.

Falcon has a great first two hours, of course, but once we hit the night vote, Cloud was 70%+ the whole way, including a 74%+ hour in the middle of the night. Nearly a 10% disparity between Cloud's best and worst hours, awesome.

I love Pokemon. I would vote Charizard over the entire bracket. I voted for Missingno because I legitimately like him. I voted RBY in all of its matches. I've recently started playing Mass Effect and want Commander Shepard to look as good as possible.

I am absolute noy voting for Pikachu over Solid goddamn Snake.

This should close out the boring matches for a bit... the next three matches could all be interesting. Pikachu is VERY unlikely to win, but he might cause a scare. A hilarious scare. Auron and Squall have been debated since the bracket was released, so that one could be quite a show. And of course, Missingno makes his grand return after that, and it'll be time to see just how much antivotes matter...

And then Tifa will ruin the fun by pasting poor Big Daddy all over the wall, followed by Link thrashing Luigi, but what can ya do.

Yoshi didn't dominate his pic as much as Pikachu does, though. Heck, the rat is bigger than Snake; it's almost a Sora/Bowser size discrepancy. I think Pika can easily hit 40%, which based on what Fox and Shepard did, would be quite the overperformance.

Also, this might be the most stable match ever, at least early on.

Looks like this match stabilized very quickly. Maybe Leon can do enough with the ASV to make us wonder what happens with a better picture.
I'm out until Pika puts up 45% on Snake.

Pikachu getting above 42% will allow me to claim Crono > Snake in the sprite round (and seriously, not as a joke).

Pikachu > Yoshi? I think any of the B-Tier Mario guys would have no trouble topping 61% on Shep, and it's not like Pika has ever proven to have the SFF advantage. Remember, a momentum-fueled Pikachu still lost easily to Luigi in 2007.

I think Pokemon's boosted a good deal since 2007. Pikachu's round 4 match last year really impressed me. He was in a match where he should have gotten Last Place Factored and SFF'd, but he still put up 42.5% on Vincent and Crono- narrowly beating Yoshi's percentage on Squall.

Pikachu is not stronger than Yoshi, and his clean performances every year attest to that fact. He's been beat down by Leon in 2k7, struggled to get 55% on Ike in 2k8, and struggled to get 60% on Shepard this year. He's the perfect example of the x-stats' main flaw (it's not how you win, it's how you lose that matters).

Just putting this in writing to remind myself of it when I'm aughing in twelve hours.

Yeah, but no logical person would take THAT over his loss to Luigi and his disappointing performance on Shepard. We'll see what happens, but if Pikachu can't break 40% with this type of advantage, I'd be reluctant to put him anywhere near the Luigi/Yoshi/Bowser tier. This may be the worst picture disadvantage Snake has ever had, especially when we be honest to ourselves and admit Frog and Bowser also looked like crap during their shots at Solid ****.
