Pokemon characters are beating popular characters

If they were really popular characters they would have won!

But really, what popular characters can the Pokemon be blamed for?

Kratos? After that performance against Tails, just how popular Kratos was seems a bit suspect.

L-Block? 60% on HK-47 and Isaac isn't really a shining indication of popularity.

Crono and Yoshi? Sure, but until further notice I'd blame joke votes before Pokemon over there.

Samus leads for well over an hour. She should get Power Hour strength that CF didn't have, because she is actually a hugely strong Nintendo character while CF is all Smash. I wouldn't be so surprised if she extended her lead for most of the first hour. (Though it sometimes does seem to appear that we are seeing a slightly weaker Power Hour this year, not sure why.)

...Am I in the minority here thinking that Samus will have a hard time holding a lead much past the freeze, if even that long?

I know how they've both looked so far round-to-round, but in a direct match, I just see Cloud reminding us all why he's #2 on the site. The hilarious FFVII board vote could keep him from leading at the freeze, but then I just see him taking off again.

You'd think I'd remember that. Okay, yeah, then Samus should lead about that long, I'd think. I still don't see Samus having the lead at the end of the Power Hour.

I think 30 minutes is probably the upper limit on that, and I'd think closer to 10-15 minutes in reality. But hey, if Samus wants to prove me wrong and make the match look kind of interesting for longer than that, she's welcome to it.

Hmmm...Cloud just jumped .04% as soon as I said that. If he makes it, it'll be just barely.

I don't think Samus was leading for 15 minutes. It was just very close for the opening minutes.

*checks*

Samus kept it very close (as in, in single digits) for about the first six minutes. After that, Cloud slowly started pulling away.

Did she really? I'd have thought 59-41 would be sufficient for Cloud to lead at the freeze against someone who isn't getting a huge percentage of their votes from anti-voting.

And I don't really expect anything too different from the last 2 times we've seen this match, both of which showed Cloud winning with 59%. I think Samus may have underperformed a bit in the 2007 match thanks to Megaman, and Cloud's probably dropped somewhat since then, but Samus will still be hard pressed to break 45%.

Nah I wasn't here back then and I misremembered wiki articles I think. Samus still led for 2 mimuntes and was only down 5 at the 5 minute mark, so I think she leads at the freeze easily.

Well, like I said, the FFVII board vote is downright comical, so I could see Samus leading there, and in retrospect, it's probably a given that she holds on that long.

But I just don't think she holds any lead for any significant time beyond that. I'd predict Cloud leading by the 15-20 minute point, and I wouldn't blink if he took the lead at the 10 minute mark.

About Missingno: I think a night match is better for him than a day match. Yes, he's great at the ASV, but if you look at the vote-in poll, he was even better, much much better, at the first couple of hours in the nighttime.

If Samus can lead Cloud for an hour, she probably finishes around 46-47%. In that case you have to give her a shot of beating Sephiroth outright (yes EC has said this for years).

Wasn't Yoshi in that poll though? So that's not quite an example I'd point to. I was pretty sure Samus slaughtered Mega Man in the Power Hour in the next round when Yoshi was gone.

Man, Cloud exploded overnight. Sephiroth getting MN at night was a boon. Also, Cloud gets Samus at night, and Sephiroth would potentially get Snake during the day. MGS during the day is god-awful.

So Cloud increased 11% from the freeze to the end...

I haven't exactly gone around touting the idea, but I'm pretty convinced at this point that post-Brawl Snake's ASV is better than FF7's. We haven't seen it in action this year for obvious reasons, but the Games Contest suggests it has gotten bad.

Leon has always had a decent board vote, didn't he come close to Dante with it last year? why are people so surprised?

But yeah after today (assuming Leon doesn't freefall, which he might) I am 100% positive that Ryu loses both of his match if he doesn't have a gigantic pic advantage.

The fact that he was able to lead at ALL with that picture speaks volumes, I think. Board vote or no board vote.

Ryu has pretty much every conceivable advantage coming into this match here. One of the biggest picture advantages ever, and a day match on top of that. I think Leon could contend with Ryu here in a fair fight, though advertising that fact is kinda pointless (and I think he gets 60-40'd by the end of this, to be perfectly honest).
