Laugh if you like, but we saw GameFAQs explode when SSBB released and FF13 was the next most hyped game ever since. We saw FFX beat FF3/6 in a FF-poll soon after it was released, and FF13 is the biggest FF-game since then. Master Chief in 2007 with Halo 3 and Mario in 2002 with SMS are good examples too.

It's hard to tell for certain if Jecht is benefiting from the FF13-explosion starting today like FFX, MC, or Mario to some degree...but it should be clear that we've seen these things before and it's certainly not unreasonable. Square's stock in general is up and will be for awhile. The vote-in and vote totals are strong enough arguments against this, but let's see how Cloud, Sephiroth, and Tifa do later this round. They should tell us more about whether or not FF13's helping here or not.

Pokemon is the most anticipated game nowadays. It's coming out in under a week so fans are going crazy. Those other games, from what I understand, don't even have release dates or they're late in the year.

Zelda Wii hasn't even been confirmed yet. Halo Reach is a Halo game, so it's not one of this site's favorites. SMG2 would be second because of all the news for it recently, but everything else is just rumors/speculation.

I figure HG/SS is the most hyped now that we're on its eve and another huge RPG just landed, Diablo 3 or Metroid: Other M has the most substantial hype at this time, and the next LoZ-game trounces everything once we get a trailer and title.

If Halo 3 beat Super Mario Galaxy, I see no reason that Reach shouldn't beat Mario Galaxy 2 in anticipation.

I believe M:OM has a release date in June now. Not certain, but I think it's coming pretty soon.

Again, Portal 2 will be getting some hype too. The first one surprised and won tons of awards, Valve's making a bigger presence here, it's becoming a stand-alone game instead of a bonus in a value pack, and it's getting the cover and main story for Game Informer. It's coming in big AND expected to come out this year according to the company, so...we'll see.

Portal won't be able to hang with the big guys. Same thing with Half-Life 2: Episode 3.

The way I see it, after HG/SS drops, the next biggest game is either between SMG2 or Diablo 3 (leaning towards SMG2 because of this site being console heavy and it's coming out sooner). But that whole lineup won't matter when Zelda becomes official.

It's hard to imagine FFXIII not being a factor. I mean, I know the FF games have nothing to do with each other, but fans of the series are fans of the series. FAQs are the reason why this site exists, so people should go on the site for them. The votals not going up is a good point though. Maybe...

- People were on the site for FFXIII already for Jecht's other matches.

- Jecht and Zelda are just really bad vote draws, so this is an improvement.

- I'm wrong and maybe the new brand of FF (just XII and XIII) doesn't overlap much with the old. Are we sure Vaan and Rikku overlapped back in 07? I mean, wouldn't Rikku and Knuckles be close anyway? Maybe FFXII marked a new age in FF and it's separated itself a little bit from the others. Just a complete hunch though.

I'm personally leaning towards option 1. This would mean Jecht is pretty terrible after the FFXIII craze dies down though.

Everywhere but North and South America seem to really hate Zelda. Has this always been true or are we seeing a Zelda drop internationally? If it's always been true is it true of Link too?
