Ngamer is gonna love the sight of joke characters falling flat on their faces. Especially after their good showings in round 1.

I know it was said already, but assuming Mario takes out Mega Man and Bowser takes Charizard down, the whole Heart Division is going to be made to look like crap.

If Leon gets remotely close to Ryu with that pic, I'll be stupefied. That's got to be the biggest pic disadvantage ever. If Leon gets his votes from his design - and I think he does - that pic just screams Solid **** level underperformance.

Agreed. Remember the first appearance round in 07 when he had a RE2 pic? I think it was mostly the picture, not the overlap between him and Dante. He got killed that round and redeemed himself in comparison with Dante in 08. The only thing that could factor in Leon's favor is the fact that T vs C seems to be going down on the top Wii games list. But if it's anything like 07, it could get ugly. Dante didn't even have that good of a picture in that 07 match either.

It probably wouldn't be much better if Mario lost and Bowser won. After all, if Mega beas Mario, he's probably going to beat Bowser even worse. And the effects of SFF thereafter would be...interesting.

Incorrect picks: More than my signature will allow.

Leon probably underperformed because of his sprite (and it didn't do Dante any favors either, while Pikachu almost certainly did better), but the main reason he got killed so much is because all his support got abandoned in a futile attempt to save Dante from losing to a rat. It's the difference between Squall/Sora/Yoshi/Fox and Squall/Sora/Sonic/Sub-Zero.

Which means, of course, that Yoshi and Riku look really bad, and Riku's loss to Falcon was pretty telegraphed as a result.

Analysis

Well done by Sub-Zero. He was able to get through his four-pack despite the board thinking Tidus was more likely of doing it. Your reward is a beating at the hands of Samus Aran. Traditionally the third round of a 64-character bracket is boring because most of the matches are half decent characters going up against elite characters in a match where the weaker character has no chance at winning. At least in this format that only lasts for 12 hours rather than 24 hours.

The only thing to talk about is whether or not Sub-Zero will outperform Jill against Samus. It was thought that Jill received a rather large boost from Resident Evil 5 based on round 1, but after making Niko look as weak as Prince of Persia the boost may be a bit less than of what we thought. Pre-Resident Evil 5 I would have no problems taking Sub-Zero over Jill and given her performance last round I think the safe bet is that he will likely defeat her as well.

I expect the gap to be closer compare to last year, but I think Sub-Zero will outperform Jill by a couple of percents. Losing badly to Samus is not a bad thing when you consider that she is one of the strongest characters in the bracket. Sub-Zero won’t be looking any better either once Samus is finish with him.

Let's not be too hasty. If Samus scores higher on Subz, I think I'll argue that Jill beats him despite her being much more night-oriented. Subz has a picture advantage here and Samus might be the absolute worst opponent Jill could have drawn.
