~*Say What? Some Common Stat Topic Lingo Defined*~

SFF (Same Fanbase Factor) - Same Fanbase Factor is the theory that, if two contestants share a common fanbase, the weaker of the two options will underperform in a direct matchup. For instance, Link was expected to defeat Ganon with 65% of the vote in 2004, based on their 2003 values. Instead, Link collected near 88% of the vote, because the Zelda fanbase so clearly sided with him. However, take some SFF labels with a grain of salt, as many people will slap it onto any match that doesn't make total sense. This has caused a few SFF jokes, with LordOfDabu's "Some Frivolous Factor" being the funniest of them.

X-Stats - Short form of Extrapolated Statistics, aka the mathematical "strength" of a contestant that can be determined based on their performance in any given matchup. See above for a detailed explanation of the x-stat process.

Noble Nine - Link, Cloud, Sephiroth, Mario, Crono, Solid Snake, Sonic, Samus and Mega Man.

Near-Elite - The Squall, Auron, Tifa, Vincent, Zelda, Kirby, Missingno etc group that has come at, near or even ahead of Noble Nine characters in the past.

The Fodder Line - A final X-Stat value of 15% or below.

Final Fantasy VII: The Origin of Sephiroth gets 9/10 rating over-all and has awesome Devil May Cry style game play where the final scene is Sephiroth impaling the main villain and throwing them into the lifestream.

Sephiroth never loses a contest match again tbqh.

You are right.I guess most people that don't know about contests here chose MC over MM.Now if it was a day match could Sora win?Also in the division final Charizard vs Bowser who has this?I will not ask about percentages because they will be rock bottom.Plus Sora was the weakest 1 seed it seems.

Analysis

Nobody really gave much thought to the former contest champion. It was quite hyped that joke characters aren’t as strong in one on one compare to four-ways and from L-Block’s performance it seems that is likely the case. On the other hand while I don’t believe that L-Block has a chance, unless L-Block has become inspired by Missingno’s performances I do believe that the block will put up a respectful performance against the Pokemon.

Letting Isaac get almost 40% on you is pretty embarrassing and even more embarrassing if you’re HK-47. I think that Golden Sun 3 hype has unburied Isaac from the depths of forgotten gaming, but even using a best case scenario L-Block isn’t touching Kratos let alone Charizard. Speaking of Kratos even though he lost he did at least bring Charizard down to Earth and while he has a great chance at winning the division at least no one considers him a lock anymore.

I consider this match to be closer than Luigi/WCC since I’d take Luigi over Charizard and L-Block would easily defeat the cube. The only way that something different happens is if some kind of Gameboy SFF emerges from this match which would be an interesting sight to see though.

Bowser's going to have about a 5000 vote lead by the time this match is over. I don't think this being a day match would matter too awful much. We talk about how great Sora's day vote is, but he's not going to swing 55/45 into victory for himself, I think. It's one thing to say "Sora's 55% better during the day than he is at night!" But we've seen Master Chief in a 55/45 match against Hayabusa the other day, and he couldn't swing it because it's not like Hayabusa has a bad day vote. I don't think Bowser's day vote would be weak enough for Sora to swing this, especially since Bowser would own him the first three hours of the poll.

Agreed, especially against a guy who is better in the day. I mean, maybe if someone like Alucard had 54-55% going into the day, but Bowser's day vote is still better than his night.

Well, this highly-anticipated match has been a bust. Kingdom Hearts has just been sucking it this year.

So how does Bowser rank with the other Nintendo near-elites in a 1-on-1 setting: Luigi, Yoshi, Ganon, Zelda, and Kirby?

Sora could win a day match- it'd be the equivalent of just stalling all through the ASV with slight gains, like Zero/Crono 2007- not sure if I'd take him to do it, probably not. No chance at a 24-hour match though.

I dunno. In a 24 hour match, Bowser would be up closer to 6000-7000 votes. You don't see many characters down that much stalling during the ASV. Master Chief was able to do it against Crono, but that's an extreme example. Sora may be equivalent to Chief in ASV power, but Bowser's no Crono.

Hayabusa/MC were 55/45 in a day-match though...it's not really fair/accurate to say it should have been 50/50 because that's changing MC's strength. What-ev though, I see the point I think you're making.


So, hopefully in a few minutes we see Charizard thrash L-Block and put it to rest. Pikachu got 52.53% on it in 2008, I think Charizard beats Pikachu, L-Block doesn't get his night-half against a Pokemon, and I don't think it's as strong one-on-one. If Charizard gets 60+%, I'm probably gonna support him against Bowser...yet I don't know how much lower than 60% it could go if everything I mentioned is an effective advantage for Charizard in addition to Pikachu > L. Hmmm...well, regardless, this match will tell us more one way or another.
