Overall prediction percentage is a bit low for a member of the Noble Nine. The top tiers do pretty good but there were a fair number of people expecting Sonic to go down on this match. Prediction percentage fades as you go down the tiers as usual.

3 people fell off the Top 50. RPGuy96, GameBopAdv and Arvisk_Dremdaw did not have Sonic winning.

1 person got it wrong and survived. Former second place blitler built up enough of a lead in previous rounds that getting this match wrong didn't knock him off the Top 50.

Sonic did 2.5% worse or so in NA than his final finish, so I think kirby will beat ganon's performance. Sonic should break 53 though.

Very nice performance from Kirby today. I wonder how his prediction percantage will be? If I had to guess, it won't be too good - Altair probably had a fair amount of casual support.

The first bit of a day match is as much Europe as the board. Look at what Kirby has in NA versus what he has in Europe. Kirby rising in the day against Vivi should really not be surprising.

The dangerous thing about Kirby is that he didn't look "beating Sonic" great last time, but he still did. Sonic may very well be doomed; the circumstances surrounding the Sonic/Kirby match are different than the ones he had against Ganondorf, and NO ONE should be counting Kirby out.

Agreed. I can't explain it, but Kirby seems to be stronger every year. Sonic, on the other hand...

Also, there is no logical way to explain away what happened in 2008. Kirby beat Sonic in a poll where the closest thing to SFF would have been between the two of them. There was no reason for Sonic to underperform, nor was there reason for Kirby to overperform (like in the previous round where it was Kirby vs. three mature, non-Nintendo characters). I really wavered on that pick in my bracket, and I ended up going with Sonic just because Kirby's history was surprisingly bad (2008 was the first time he even got the chance to face a Noble Niner), but I definitely regret it--not that I've got much of a chance at winning anything unless I get Snake > Cloud, and probably not even then. Kirby > Sonic, and I have no idea why.

2008 is a weird situation, but I'm not buying that it will be replicated again. There's probably not one factor that explains Kirby > Sonic, but rather a mix such as four-ways hurting Sonic, Kirby bandwagoning, potential LFF, and so on. Sonic also lost to Auron in 2008, and after what the hedgehog did to Ganondorf I'd pick Sonic over Auron.

I'm thinking Kirby's performances were a fluke and won't be replicated again this contest. Don't get me wrong, I'd be ****ing ecstatic if Kirby upset Sonic, but I don't see it happening.

Similarly, that's why I have no confidence in Snake being Sephiroth. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised to see Snake/Pikachu be a closer match than Snake/Sephiroth.

And people getting scared of Kirby are getting scared for no reason at all, really. Expecting flukes to happen more than once is just asking to be disappointed, and that's what the first Sonic/Kirby match was.
