but are we stooping so low that jokes are the only way to beat the top guys? When jokes become the standard then...well where do we go from there, rally a legit character against a joke because the joke is so overwhelmingly more powerful? They do add in a nice swerve and curve, but I'd love to see some more rallies for Vivi, goddamnit, make vivi a contest winner you lamos, give him da powah! --- Shakes Fist! |

The
problem is that well, there aren't any non-joke video game characters
out there that'll be close to as popular as Clinkeroth and co. if there
were brought in, and there's not much being done for other characters
to boost them (FFVII spinoffs will only take you so far, Mario's new
games don't seem to resonate greatly here, and the stars of the latest
hits have been a fair way from the near elites, even when they've
impressed). Hopefully some new ones are penned that attain some
popularity! Here's a thought though. If Lightning was put in, say, Ness' position, she'd still be in, wouldn't she? Hard to see Big Daddy or Geno (heh) breaking 36% on Sonic. Hopefully some new ones are penned that attain some popularity! I'd say Noctis certainly has the potential, if Versus XIII is popular enough. The character design being a melding of Cloud and Sephiroth is perfect for Gamefaqs' taste. --- KrahenProphet and Nintendo cleaned me out in the Guru Contest. |

Anyway, that guy was also in Majora's Mask. In that game, you could get him to repeat that sound effect. Knight almost certainly got SFF'd. He got 41.73% on Ryu last year. He's
probably the second strongest character in this half. He just got a bad

It turns out, history has already been made during this contest. Maybe. I just happened to be looking through the write-ups of matches from previous contests on the Wiki, and I got to Frog vs. Liquid 2004. In said write-up, it said that Frog's greatest lead at any given time was 480 votes. The page on "closest wire-to-wire matches" had it as 460. For some reason, the "match updates" link for that particular match isn't working properly, so I can't verify which is the correct number...but if the record was indeed 480, rather than the 460 we believed it to be, then Ken/Wesker broke the record, only reaching its eventual maximum of 471 when Ken won the final update. I would appreciate it if someone could verify whether or not 471 was indeed a new record. --- CB8 score: 105 Incorrect picks: More than my signature will allow. |

Kirby/Vivi - this is the sprite round, right? that isn't a sprite of Vivi... MM/Ryu H - XD at Ryu. whoa Samus/Subby - Yeah MK1 Sub-Zero. good enough for me. Jecht/Zelda - lol Zelda. not a sprite of Jecht either. Cloud/Falcon - what is that behind Cloud? Leon/Ryu - oh gosh. forget solid ****, that is just horrible. Leon doesn't look too hot either (j/k) Auron/Squall - uh-oh Smilin' Squall. Seph/Missingno - definitely the most striking pic of round 1. seph looks good, and zolom has a cameo. +Seph here.
