As a Cloud supported, I have no delusions of him getting anywhere close to Crono 2006's percentage.

Falcon's pretty clearly not the same dude that he was back then, and with the way Falcon did early on against Riku, Cloud's going lucky to have 65% after 5 minutes.

I'm confident in Sonic > Ganon and Sora > Bowser for sort of the same reason. It's a bit wonky, but I think in hero/villain matches, the villain always suffers a little bit of... I don't know if it's SFF, but it's like, hero > villain shenanigans. It's hard to explain my thought process there and I'm definitely worried about both of those matches to some degree, but I'd be pretty shocked if Ganon pulls it off, and genuinely surprised if Bowser did.

I'm pretty confident in Sonic > Ganon at this point. I don't see the Blue Blur losing that one at this point. Not to say he can't blow it because it IS Sonic, but I'm feelin' pretty good about that one.

Pokemon Trainer Red – 38.84%
Mega Man X – 61.16%

Analysis

Link continues his run towards the 2010 crown with an interesting opponent. Will X behave like Mega Man and get SFF or does X have a different enough fanbase to at least hold up against Link. Either way Link should have a crushing win during his worst period of time while people are left wondering where X ranks relative to other characters.

The main question is whether or not Mega Man X has ties to Nintendo. Unlike the original form Mega Man X only had a few games on Nintendo’s console before moving to the Playstation. Also comparing his impressive numbers on a LFF Mario to his lacklustre performance in this contest I don’t really see Mega Man X being much of a Nintendo character. If he is as weak as the numbers showed last round then it is quite obvious that his performance last contest was because of a weakened Mario and not because he was as strong as Mega Man with Nintendo ties.

On the other hand Mega Man X was hit pretty hard in the round where Link was added last contest so maybe there is some kind of relation. I don’t see Mega Man X being weaker than Alucard so if he does end up with a lower score than him then we’ll know for sure. Until then I see Mega Man X breaking 30% on Link, he may not be as strong as Mega Man, but he is still a character to be afraid of, just not to Link.

I'm torn on who to vote for in that match. Let's make a pros and cons list:

Sonic

He has more appealing character design than Ganondorf.
I like the Noble Nine, and how there's no side characters in it except for Sephiroth who doesn't really count. Ganondorf doesn't deserve to be an elite.
Bracket.

Ganondorf

I despise Sonic.
I am a Zelda fanboy deep down, and buried somewhere through the years is the belief I once held that Ganondorf was a great villain.
Sonic losing would be very funny.

Have you given Kingdom Hearts an honest shot? It's corny and sappy, but it just works if you're a fan of either Disney or Square. Also, there's nothing wrong with bracket voting, and people should stop giving each other grief for it. Not all of us here are so attached to these characters that we'd whip it out and start jerking on an X-Stats spreadsheet if one of them mustered a surprise win. I'd probably only say "I'd rather see this character win than get free money" for one character. Maybe.

I have played through a large portion of KH. I started KH2 and couldn't stand it. The disney... ness is a fun gimmick, and I enjoyed going through Agrabah well enough but in the end they couldn't hold my interest long enough to make the games anything more than "Cool Sephiroth boss fight 1 and 2" for me.

I could probably give them more of a shot, yes, but I can't stand the characters and the story is crap.

Luigi only barely edged Bacondorf. We wouldn't expect Kirby to do the same, would we? Sonic *should* do better on the Kirbster than Ganon, though who knows how much the villain's fallen over the years. He doesn't seem to be tied to Link's fluctuations at all.

More leaderboard irony - although I'm listed as 3rd, I suppose you could stretch a bit and say that I'm tied for 2nd on the leaderboard with 114, and I'm also 2nd in the Oracle. Very odd how this is the second time that's happened this contest.

Agreed. in a night match, Sora is weaksauce. Bower should be bad at night but Sora is sucktacular (plus, there's the Nintendo Power Hour which should easily favor Bowser). I'm starting to favor Bowser>Charizard as the result now.

I don't think Char will win the division - I think he's just below Sora in strength. And I think Bowser is a step ahead of Charizard, though he'll have to withstand Char's ASV and loses out on the great Mario morning vote.

Hmmm. You know come to think of it, I think there's a chance format might actually switch both those results - we might see Bowser>Sora and then Charizard>Bowser while in a 24-hour match, both those might be flipped (more likely for the former than the latter).

People are overstating the clutch thing for Sora. He may not have lost a debatable match but I don't really think that means anything.

Nice performance from Tifa today. The rest of New Square had been bombing all contest, but Tifa has had 2 decent performances. Unless she bombs against Big Daddy, she may be the only the New Square character to emerge from this contest unscathed.

In a 24 hour format, Sora > Bowser > Charizard.

Charizard's not gonna have an ASV because the match is on a Sunday, but his day vote should be REALLY good that day with it being the HGSS release day and all. Like, REALLY good. I think Char can beat either Bowser or Sora, but I'd be much more worried about Bowser.

It's hard for me to believe that New Square will bomb once you put them in some legit, non-SFF matches. Cloud, Sephiroth, Squall, even Tidus and Jecht... these guys all got Dissidia as well. It seems so strange that we'd consider a hyper boost for Old Square and a possible decline for New Square when they got the same game. No, I don't expect the new guys to have boosted anywhere near as much, but it doesn't make sense to think they've declined. Let's wait for matches like Snake/Squall and Samus/Cloud to see.
