is actually right here. Frog seemed fine - Bowser would have to flop to
make him look bad. Magus looked horrible, but no more so than last
contest. And Crono, who the hell knows - he's obviously underrated
relative to Yoshi due to a) no rallying needed against Yoshi and b)
he's way stronger in a 24-match than a 12-hour day match (see the
infamous Crono/Vincent...). --- gamefaqscontests.com gamefaqscontests.com/gallery |

reserving judgment on Squall until he loses to Auron, but being

It
could mean Crono sucks terribly now, I'm not sure. However, I'll take
the only available evidence - Yoshi/Jak, admittedly pretty sparse - to
support the conclusion that he doesn't. We'll find out next round. But if Crono sucking means Frog looks bad, and Frog looking bad makes Kefka look bad, then obviously Kefka looking bad makes Terra look bad. Which is an awfully roundabout way of saying intra-game relationships aren't always the best thing to follow. I've already noted that Luigi looks bad but the other Mario characters look golden. --- Mustache...and Green... http://backloggery.com/rpguy96 |
LeonhartFour | Posted 3/3/2010 7:57:13 PM | message detail |
And
I'm just curious what makes Bowser and Yoshi boost up to Crono levels
while Luigi (who has a pretty favorable comparison with 2008 Crono
since they both faced Ammy, that works out to 56.63% for Crono, which
is pretty cool since he got 57.44% on Bowser in 2006) stays put. A lot of the numbers in this contest stink. I just don't know which ones are which. You can make the numbers from this contest say just about anything you want them to, depending on what perspective you take. --- "Stay with me until the end. Please." "Not until the end. Always." |
red sox 777 | Posted 3/3/2010 7:57:40 PM | message detail |
Bowser = Squall seems very strange, but so does Kefka = Terra. I have absolutely no qualms with Bowser > Luigi, though you probably could have guessed that about me. I don't see last year's match as conclusive- it was a 4-way, and it's possible that Bowser is more popular outside the Mario fanbase but Luigi wins inside it (that's what the favorite Mario character polls suggest at any rate). There's also Bowser's Inside Story, plus Bowser was always the strongest Mario side-character, up until 2007 maybe, and there's been nothing conclusive to show that he fell out of that position, ever, outside that Bowser/Luigi match. Leonhart will not like this probably, but I think Old-School LFF is a possibility in Bowser/Ryu/Auron. It's as good an explanation as I can think of for why Bowser and Auron were so far apart in 2007 after being only 3% apart in 2006. --- Missingno's quest to avenge Crono - Round 2: Yoshi Link's quest to save us from the oppression of the jokes- Round 3: Megaman X |

However,
I'll take the only available evidence - Yoshi/Jak, admittedly pretty
sparse - to support the conclusion that he doesn't. Which projects Yoshi to beat Crono with 61.63% based on 2007 Jak! From: UltimaterializerX | #190 Beating Kirby was a terrible result at the time. Everyone was high on Bowser beating Snake until that match. 40% on Sephiroth, 59% on Ryu, and beating Yoshi in 2003. and there's been nothing conclusive to show that he fell out of that position, ever, outside that Bowser/Luigi match. Outside of a direct match with Luigi (which he lost handily, it's not like it was close enough to be a tossup like against Ganon), nothing supports it, huh? But the fact that Bowser lost to Ryu at all speaks a lot about him. --- "So cold. I am always by your side." "There ain't no gettin' off of this train we on!" |

very glad that Sora faced Laharl in a night match, because 1. Sora has

Actually, I'm curious. Let me do a little math here. Bowser got 65.36% on Wrighto in 2008. Magus got 56.30% on him in 2007. That projects to...60.37% for Bowser. Which would give us Magus > Frog (which I don't think has ever really changed, despite how bad Magus has looked). 52.11% for Bowser against Alucard there.
