I honestly miss the days when Ceej would ban non-characters from entering the contests.

Joke characters were funny when they used to lose, and the first time they won a match...and a whole contest. But now I just check the poll and say "Oh, Missingno's winning. I should be surprised, but I'm not."

I don't really care that we have them, it just felt better without them. Oh well.

This isn't a great Bowser pic. Anything that reminds me of RPG Bowser is the way to go.

Missingno has earned some reprieve from being called a joke though - although I'm not sure he can be called a character :)

Anyway, even if he beats Sephriroth, I think he'll still lose to Cloud in a 24-hour match, not even Link.

Obviously Missingno is very likely highly day-centric (poor Crono getting the day match on top of having his SNV stuffed on!). But, in order to beat Sephiroth, he will needs *lots* of bandwagoning. Which he could well get, largely due to the FF7 early vote; although even then it might not be enough.

But while he'll easily beat Cloud trend-wise in a day match, to actually beat him beat him, he'll need 24-hour bandwagoning. And that's much harder to get than the level of bandwagoning needed to win a 12-hour match.

Same applies to Sephiroth and the morning vote - he'll probably toast Sephiroth trend-wise with the morning vote is my guess. But to actually be winning updates in the morning is a different story.

He's got a shot at Sephiroth, but Cloud in a 24-hour match is much tougher than Sephiroth in a 12-hour match.

Of course there's a good chance that Sephiroth also beats him easily in a 12-hour match too.

You might be able string a case together for the first round in 2008 (65% oh Phoenix). However, that doesn't look as good after Phoenix lost to Jecht who then kinda stunk up the joint against Ratchet. His 55% against pre-RE4 Wii Leon was underwhelming as well, especially since people hyped him as a potential Crono-killer that year. You really do have to go back to 2005 to find the last great one, although maybe the Kefka match counts after watching what Terra did.

Bringing up Axel is an excellent choice, because unless you think Ryu and Dante beat Mega Man he's obviously fallen pretty hard. Just like Sora!

As far as our friend Frog goes, he's got a few things in his favor. For one, the vote in, where he easily beat Midna (what a coincidence!) and basically tied Rikku (who put up 57% on Kirby) in the vote-in. For another, last year Frog got 33% on Samus (admittedly with Ganondorf hanging around), so it's not like he's completely fallen off the face of the earth (coughMaguscough). As a final point, Magus through Alucard is worth 22.27% on Link. Supposing that Magus = Frog (which is pretty much the worst possible case for the amphibian, and puts Samus at an obviously waaaay to low 34% on Link), Bowser's still above 30% on Link, which is more than enough to beat someone who could barely double Laharl.
