I'm
still baffled by this match, especially with Ulti going around saying
that it was obvious that Yoshi would contend for this match. Were
people really expecting Crono to be on Yoshi's level before the contest
began? Most of the explanations for why Yoshi would contend here sounded like wishful thinking at the time- the save_us.rat comparisons were particularly apt. Now they still don't give us a really satisfying answer. No one's rallying? People thought the joke was funny for one round and aren't amused anymore? I'm still flabbergasted that anyone could have seen this coming |

Disagree.
He'll at worst get enough noms to make the vote-ins, so unless he and
Frog get put in the same vote-in Magus'll get in easily, and even if

Yeah
Yoshi probably just lost. Also unless Samus upsets Cloud, this is
Missingno's hardest match before the final. He'll smoke Sephiroth and
Tifa. After that, the bandwagon will be ridiculous and we've already

I'm
not too sure about Sephiroth, the guy is on another planet compare to
Crono, turning a 60%+ match around by rallying is quite large,

began? Crono isn't at Yoshi's level. Missingno is a joke character with a not particularly well defined strength. Unless you think that Laharl>Dante in Summer 2007 based on their performance against L-Block. |

It
could just be the main event-status of Crono/Missingno that people
cared about. Yoshi/Missingno -- especially after Missingno already made
history in R1 -- just isn't the same. I think it could be a lot like
Master Hand after it beat Kuja then flopped to Dr. Robotnik, or Sandbag
after it beat Magus then flopped compared to Sonic from the round
before. Those were Nintendo-jokes against Square-characters in very
hyped matches, and not only did Nintendo pull through in all three
matches but they all under-performed the next round compared to our
expectations. Now that the main event is over for Missingno, it's hard to get so excited about him unless he tries to make another main event happen with Sephiroth like Starcraft did with LoZ:WW after making history happen in R1 with Halo followed by a dull performance against KH. concept. Let's assume a normal Missingno is roughly Yoshi's strength and Crono would defeat Yoshi 55/45 and that Vincent=Crono. Today is a perfect example, as is the-match-that-shall-not-be-named. Step 2: Someone disagrees, usually politely but sometimes not so politely. Step 3: Dismiss, ignore and/or make fun of whoever is responsible for Step 2. Black Turtle is the only person this entire topic should auto-dismiss. Anyone else, even Albion, contributes good stuff sometimes. Step 4: Match happens, deviating from the consensus set by Step 1. Step 5: Damage control. All the "Crono is just getting really weak, I would have totally picked Yoshi in a 12 hour day match! Honest!" that's going on right now, for example. You'll almost never hear "Good call, Step 2 Guy!". And before people like creativename can even wipe all the egg off their face, the process repeats itself for the next so-called obvious match.
