The thing is that Frog has never been close to 37% on Crono, so it'd be very strange for him to be there now, especially as we've seen a strong trend of the strongest character in a game/series holding up through the years better than the others. So Bowser = Crono seems highly unlikely, yet people have thought Crono = Squall for a while. So either Crono = Squall or Squall = Bowser has to be false.

Master Chief got 39% on Crono the year after Frog tied him. I'd say that suggests that Frog was once up there on Crono.

Yoshi blew out Jak, Bowser performed to expectations. Only Mario's performance against Big Boss has been impressive.

That was the year Frog got 30% on Samus, right?

So Samus is projected to get 61.31% on Crono that year, huge rSFF for Mario confirmed

I'd say CT was stronger in 2004 than 2005, although not by the margin needed to bring Frog down to the 33% I suggested. I wouldn't trust the Chief match though (it also puts DK basically equal with Luigi). Frog also was even with Liquid in 2004 in addition to Chief, who should be just as good or a better indicator of his strength, and suggests a much lower number.

If i get to choose, i would rather see Auron advancing instead of Squall. Snake/Auron is a refreshing match featuring 2 of the greatest VG badass ever while Snake/Squall has happened too many times and will produce the same boring beatdown.

Dissidia is not Smash. Smash is an established force on this site; it has its own fanbase. Smash is a lot more popular than every franchise represented there, except for Mario and Zelda. It is possible to be a fan of Smash despite not being a fan of any of the represented franchises. Characters like Kirby get can fans directly from Smash because of this. Hell, even Master Hand and Sandbag get votes.

Dissidia is a leach. It gets sales and popularity entirely from an pre-existing fanbase. There are no "Dissidia fans" like there are Smash fans; you almost have to be a Final Fantasy fan to buy the game. And the theory that Dissidia can introduce fans to new characters and cause a significant number to prefer them over established characters is ludicrous.

This is why Brawl-only characters will fail miserably against earlier Smash characters. In terms of GameFAQs, Brawl did nothing to expand the Smash fanbase. And it is absurd to expect a significant number of them to suddenly vote for a new character they have just discovered over an established character they like (note the last two words. The fact that Meta Knight can beat Ness means nothing).

Being a Final Fantasy fan doesn't mean you've even played, or are familiar with, the older NES and SNES games. Not I'm saying Dissidia is anywhere near Smash in terms of popularity or ability to 'boost' a character's popularity, but being a Final Fantasy fan doesn't mean you've played FFI-FFXII.

How it started is irrelevant to what it is now. Smash created its own fanbase along the way. The fact that Dissidia is a handheld game and sold like crap is evidence that it does not have a significant fanbase.

You can argue this until you're blue in the face, but the fact of the matter is that the results of this contest say differently, unless you've got another reason for why Cecil, Terra, and Kefka are suddenly notably stronger than they used to be.

Not hardly. I don't ever remember voting for Yoshi before (maybe I have, I'd have to look back) but yeah... I'm making the prediction Crono ends up looking like a champ and comes the closest to beating it. If it's anything like L-Block, it's only going to get harder to stop.

That's not exactly how jokes work here. L-Block went from beating Link to losing to Pikachu. Then again this was after people didn't find it so funny anymore.

There's also the Nintendo factor... Yoshi is a stronger Nintendo character and all. He has very little chance, but you can't just say there's 0%. Yoshi is upper-midcard and while not as strong as Crono may share the few serious voters Missingno. has. That being said, I'm predicting 58% or so for Missingno.

No. MissingNo is a joke, and will only be as strong as the people who find it funny take it. If they decide there's no reason to hate Yoshi, then Yoshi wins. If they just see Yoshi as another obstacle, MN wins.

It's not the most widely known pokemon, despite what some people seem to want you to think here. Pikachu has antivoting so it isn't applicable... Charizard however makes more sense. If you could see Charizard legitimately beating Yoshi or Crono, then yes this is the power of Pokemon.

A very small percentage of Missingno.'s power is from the actual fanbase of the game in my opinion. There's not a lot of evidence of that to me. There's a lot more evidence this is L-Block v2.0. That's the only thing I can make a case for when it comes to Yoshi. He'll likely share the small percentage of actual Missingno. fans and would probably SFF him in a non-joke match.
