The
ideal situation is for Auron to look good on Squall and for Squall to
look good (read: beat!) Snake. Then that confirms good characters are
all still liked. --- :> |
vcharon | Posted 3/1/2010 10:01:30 PM | message detail |
From: creativename | #250 Yes, I realize that. The point is that I doubt anyone would have predicted Squall to slaughter Tidus that way before the match. We can't really be certain it won't happen to Auron just because he's Auron instead of Tidus. --- :> |
vcharon | Posted 3/1/2010 10:02:06 PM | message detail |
Auron leading in Canada. Now it's the land of good taste again (though still not quite as good as other places!) --- :> |
Lopen | Posted 3/1/2010 10:02:23 PM | message detail |
Man people doomsaying Auron because of this are silly. Granted I always had Squall as the favorite but this isn't really too far off from what consensus should've been vs Zero. --- No problem! This is a cute and pop genocide of love! |
LeonhartFour | Posted 3/1/2010 10:02:40 PM | message detail |
There's
a big strength difference between Squall and Tidus though. Characters
who are close in strength usually don't SFF each other. --- "The great GF...Bahamut." "...GF? I...? Using my powers...It is you humans...I fear..." |

SFF
isn't just when two characters from the same fanbase battle, it's when
two characters from the same fanbase battle and the fanbase uniquely
favors a side that you wouldn't see in an indirect comparison. Do you
think Square-fans uniquely favored Vincent over Squall in 2005, in a
way that an indirect comparison wouldn't suggest back then? --- T E A M C H O C O L A T E http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/7355/64590879.png |

Thanks, TRE. Don't know if I'm actually surprised I posted that much! Then again, I have over 12k posts at another forum I've been going to since late 2004, and I have nearly 17k posts on LL, though I've stopped posting there for the past couple years. Wouldn't be surprised if I've made over 20k posts on GameFAQs over the past 9 or so years I've been posting here between the hundred or so accounts I've had. And that's not factoring in other forums I've posted at. So that's likely at least 50,000 posts I've made on the internet in the past fifteen years or so. Damn. --- Not Wylvane |

TheOneAboveAll | Posted 3/1/2010 10:49:17 PM | message detail |
Another
random cut. I thought Zero was supposed to get killed late night. He's
not doing great, but he's keeping it below 55% in the last hour. And Canada is back to dead even, so now no one thinks they are cool. |

Before
the contest, i was thinking that Squall/Vincent/Auron might have a
decent chance at beating MM. But with Megaman characters doing a mighty
job at impressing, i don't really think that is possible at this point. --- Snake's Mission "To make it to the finals for the fourth consecutive times" |
TheOneAboveAll | Posted 3/1/2010 11:58:09 PM | message detail |
I
think 4-ways let us really doubt the strength of the Noble Nine. They
became the NN in 1v1s for a reason. 4-ways were a pleasant chance at
unseating them, but I think now we're really being reminded why they
became the NN in the first place. I don't think there is any character
(aside from Missingno.) we've ever had in a tournament who could beat
any NNer in this format. And no, Jay Solano would not win again. |

Squall to the Division Finals with Snake confirmed --- 99/116 points - The Great GameFAQs Character Battle VIII NP: Auron > Zero | Squall Leonhart > Darth Revan |
Kotetsu534 | Posted 3/2/2010 3:14:01 AM | message detail |
I
don't know that pushing on for 56% against Zero is that bad at all.
Zero put up over 67% on Fenix, which puts Auron at over 70% on him?
Would >70% on Fenix be a bad performance? --- Currently Playing: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, Ocarina of Time, Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn |
Iamthekuzalol | Posted 3/2/2010 3:28:03 AM | message detail |
This
is more of Zero impressing than Auron sucking to be honest. I think
Squall is still the clear favorite so far but Auron/Squall does indeed
have the potential of becoming the next Vincent/Squall but with Squall
emerging victorious this time. --- Snake's Mission "To make it to the finals for the fourth consecutive times" |
voltch | Posted 3/2/2010 3:29:51 AM | message detail |
If
Zero and Squad Megaman has overall increased its power levels, then
Auron/Squall should still be on, come on we want something good for
round 3 where the points are worth double Ryu/Dante. --- Shakes Fist! |

Auron
is doing just fine. Zero is projected to get 44% on Auron based on
Marcus Fenix, which follows the general trend of MM characters
impressing. This is all Zero here. --- No match for KrahenProphet's extreme Guru skills. |
LinkMarioSamus | Posted 3/2/2010 4:21:48 AM | message detail |
Lol
I've been watching a guy play Gears of War on YouTube. The game
definetely deserved better than its thrashing in the contest (in
addition to Fenix's thrashing here, though I did vote for Zero), that
is for sure. And in Auron/Squall I am certainly rooting for Auron, because it will be sad when a stupid emo kid defeats the wise old ghost-man. Though I must admit that I voted for Squall in round 1 and I am voting for him again in round 2 (Terra has like NO appeal, that's how bad it gets. I think she loses to Revan on a good number of other websites, simply because Revan's weapon of choice gives him far more appeal than Terra's weapon of choice, and that's what I thought here. I mean, why would you want to vote for some stupid knife-fighter over a guy with a lightsaber? Okay, joke question). |
RPGuy96 | Posted 3/2/2010 5:09:56 AM | message detail |
Well,
Auron is exceeding his percentage on Fenix and still rising with the
morning vote, so I will remain hopeful about Auron > Squall, but I'm
certainly not going to be loud about it. I'm delighted that this match makes Sonic look even worse than I thought, at least. --- Mustache...and Green... |
Wii_TuRtLe | Posted 3/2/2010 5:25:55 AM | message detail |
Now's about the time the morning vote kicks in. Zero can probably get this back under 56% before noon! --- "Like Darth Maul, the bastard child of Michael Flatley and Hellboy" - trancer1 |
Safer Sephiroth 777 | Posted 3/2/2010 5:33:08 AM | message detail |
I
believe Squall shall win.The bad thing is that I believe we can't be
really sure since he is fighting a Square character so there might be a
SFF or something like that. Also on a side note,Cloud is 1st,Sephiroth
is 2nd and Squall what number is?I mean as a FF character.3rd?Or is
Vincent or Tifa stronger? --- GameFaqs is NOT the place to go for relationship advice.Nobody here gets any action unless it is their right or left hand.Including me.~Dawn and Dusk~ |

I didn't expect Pika to have such a high percentage.I guess people love Pokemon! Pikachu is almost as bad as Master Chief when it comes to bracket support. --- Board 8 BOP: http://www.freewebs.com/charmander6000/CB8%20BOP.xls Character Battle VIII - 89/112 - Today's Winners: Solid Snake and Pikachu |
LinkMarioSamus | Posted 3/2/2010 5:56:40 AM | message detail |
How
well do you think Pikachu does against Master Chief? Then again I
wouldn't be surprised if Chief and Shepard are in the same league at
this point. Chief has obviously returned to being the low midcarder he
used to be rather than the mid midcarder that he was last year, let
alone Mr. Super Awesome Game Fuel from '07. And I ended up opening YouTube Let's Plays of Final Fantasy VII (from Necroscope86), Final Fantasy VIII (from Resobaso) and Super Metroid (from SirRonLionHeart). FF7 is most definetely not overrated. |
