HEYOOOO! =) Talking about stuff that'd be fun to see, something I've meant to do for myself for awhile is try to find the very first post each of us made in an archived topic. Oh yeah, Ngamer's site skips from Part 1 to Part 10. I'm positive there are posts in there it missed. That's a problem with how the site sorts pages. You'll find Part 2 between Part 19 and Part 20. I even read the entire writeup on LAST year`s topic, and was enthralled. It`s about damned time I can actually post in your topic and have it actually mean something :) Anyway, I know I`m looking ahead, but how do you see the MC/Felix match? Personally, I`ve never played Halo, and still think MC will beat both Felix AND Aeris. He should have no problems with Felix, Aeris` popularity has been on the steady decline for years, and Halo`s popularity is vastly, vastly underestimated. He could be a dark horse until Sonic, or he could lose in the first round. Who in the hell knows. We have nothing from last year to compare him with. But if he`s a 3 seed, then he got a whole hell of a lot of nominations from SOMEWHERE, didn`t he? Furthermore, there are the matters of the West. I don`t think Knuckles should have many problems with Yuna. She`s more hated than Tidus, and Knuckles literally rivals Sonic as THE most popular character from the series. Does Knuckles carry the flag for Sega? Hell no. But does he have the same following of fans. You`d better believe it. I don`t even think that match will be close, personally. If Ganondorf can beat Tidus, then Knuckles should be able to smoke Yuna. After all, who DIDN`T own a Sega along with their Nintendo/SNES back in the day? And then, there`s Lara/Zelda. I may have made a mistake in picking Lara to win, but then again, Zelda is just the dumb ***** you have to save in every game. Saying Zelda would win is like saying Princess Peach would be able to beat Lara, and sorry, but Peach would get killed, easily. Lara also has a movie coming out, and you can see Angelina Jolie in every magazine/newspaper by this point advertizing it. Furthermore, a lot of people on gamefaqs (not ALL of them, so don`t go getting offended by this) don`t have much of a social life, which inevitably leads to porn-surfing. I guarantee you that they`ve looked up Angelina Jolie at least once or twice. You think that won`t matter for Lara Croft? Think agian. What an AWFUL post. I remember my ` days, too. Can't discuss that on GameFAQs, Wii_TuRtLe. <_< TRE, any chance of putting up a .tar.gz of all the stats topics or would that be way too big? I think it was something like 300MB even if you cut out everything except the HTML files. The other problem is on rare occations I accidently saved the topic with my mod account. I edited the files to remove the mod only stuff before I uploaded to the stats archive, but I deleted the edited version after uploading them. is hardly illegal, and in BC it's almost expected for everyone under 30
to be constantly high. We're a lot more liberal about marijuana in
Canada. Actually, I'd be surprised if there were any Canadian LLers who

Well
it's legal medicinally in a couple states (California has pot
dispensaries everywhere now), but yeah. America is ass backwards when
it comes to weed. The only reason it's illegal is because hemp is
cheaper in textiles, so the distributors want to make more money making
textiles and paper and such from more expensive products. The negative
PR surrounding weed has nothing at all to do with health concerns, it's

It's inspired partially by MMXcalibur's Prophet Challenge, Ringworm's betting topics, and nearly every prediction post I've ever seen. The basic idea is to predict not just the winner of each match, but the percentage of the votes they will get. The aim is to see who can most accurately gauge each character's popularity. Okay, so we all knew Sephiroth would beat Raziel, giving everyone 1 point in their bracket. But Slowflake predicted the exact vote split, which is much better than I would have done. :) So I'm hoping this competition will reward those who can most accurately predict the outcome of each match. The competition is tentatively called "The Oracle Challenge" (because MMX already took "Prophet"). ;) The basic scoring model is that everyone can earn up to 50 points for each match. If you pick the winner and guess exactly right (like Slowflake) you get 50 points. If you're off by 2% I subtract 2 points, giving you 48. If you're off by 9.5% you get 40.5 points. Etc. If you pick the wrong character you'll usually get 0 points, although you may get still get a few in relatively close matches (based on a formula I'll explain later). So, that's the basic idea. I'm hoping to start it at the beginning of the second round. And hopefully I'll have enough time to run this as well as keep up with the stats. :) Feedback is welcome. Oh man, we're getting into my favorite match of all-time! Match #36 Preview Kind of a breather here. I stand firm on my prediction here: the Ratchet Rebound is sure puzzling, but Mario scored 75% against a total loser last year, and look where it took him. We can use last year's Snake vs. Squall as a reference: where is Luigi compared to Snake, and how much popularity did Squall earn with Kingdom Hearts? Is this enough to give Squall the 15% needed for the win? I doubt it. Snake's a big name and all, but it's freakin' Luigi. And, even if he's a bit below Snake, it still gives him a lot of points to play with. Squall beat Jill, but he didn't destroy her. And in retrospect, Jill's wins over Kirby and Bomberman weren't THAT impressive, and neither did her destruction at the hands of Link. So Squall whacking a weak opponent could have been what really happened in round 1. If you're still not sure Luigi can take Squall, I'll take it from the other side: is Luigi worth 10% over Jill? I think he's worth even more. So while I think Luigi will win, he'll have a very tough time getting 60%. --- "So cold. I am always by your side." "There ain't no gettin' off of this train we on!" |
