You guys think Falcon will have a brief lead against Cloud thanks to the board vote+anti vote? Everybody has a brief lead against Cloud. With any luck though Falcon will get quadrupled or something. |

Brawl boost? Dude did get 55.59% on Alucard in the match where he wasn't SFFed by Pikachu last year, and that was with potential Diddy LFF. At the very least, he's stronger than Magus, and he may even be on Alucard's level. Hell, Cloud/Falcon just got interesting. --- Not Wylvane |

Falcon
should be a good test for Cloud. A character that is clearly stronger
than Ridley, how will Cloud fare? Is Ridley suddenly that good, and if
not, how far has Cloud fallen? Where was I? Oh yeah, about this RE5 boost being negligible and Chris still being on the fodder line. Just wanted to respond to this real quick... RE5 is the best selling RE game of all time and Gold Edition comes out next month to boost those numbers. That is factually incorrect. RE4 sold 6.5 million (GC + PS2 + WII), RE5 sold 5.5 million (PS3 + X360). Still, sales are pretty irrelevant; the question is, did RE5 sell to many people who were not originally Resident Evil fans, converting a portion of them to RE fans in the process? RE4 sure did, but I think it is evident that RE5 did not. |

spinoff series). Also, RE2 is still the best selling RE game, I
believe. Adding up the numbers on VGChartz, it looks like RE2 falls just below RE4. Then again, there are so many untracked versions of RE2 on that crappy site that it probably does surpass RE4 in sales. You seem to be underestimating the effects of multiple console ownership. Selling to a new console does not automatically make you appeal to a new fanbase. Except for Nintendo consoles, there are a lot of Nintendo-console only owners out there. Anyway, RE4 moved to series into a different direction, causing many to think "Well, I never really like RE games before, but I do now". RE5 did nothing to evolve the series, which is why it created very few new fans, causing no sort of significant boost to the series. |

fans, causing no sort of significant boost to the series. This is a pretty flawed idea, if we're talking about a potential RE5 boost for RE5 characters. RE4 created a whole new group of Resident Evil fans, ones that may not have been a big fan or follower of the series before, which means they're likely unfamiliar with the characters and stories of previous RE games, or just never cared much for them. RE5 really only needed to appeal to that group of fans, which it did, in order to give characters like Chris, Jill, and Wesker a popularity boost -- because none of them played any real role in RE4. If we're talking about the series as a whole, though, I would mostly agree that it didn't give it any significant boost in popularity, though it did make a bigger splash when it came out than RE4 did in terms of sales. With RE5 Gold, it'll probably end up outselling RE4, too. --- wheresoever you go, go with all your heart |
