Too soon to see where Chris is. He stands to receive the biggest boost out of anybody in RE5 due to being the main character. 38% on Sora isn't too shabby before your game even comes out. His last game before that was RE: CV, wasn't it?

IIRC, you don't see Jill until close to the end of the game, and she wasn't even that important IMO. She looks different in the game too. For all we know, it didn't do anything for her.

Eh, I doubt Jill would have even broken 30% if it had done nothing for her. We all know what Samus does to midcarders, and it's gotta be even worse with badass female midcarders. Jill wasn't around until the end, but her intro was amazing. An amazing 20 minutes can definitely boost a character, and that's exactly what Jill got.

Wesker and Chris probably boosted more, though; you're right about that.

This is the biggest reason why I'm only an occasional poster to this topic.

Unfortunately I don't think it's something that can be fixed. The topic seems to encourage it all on its own. I've done it myself, lots of times - I was damn near insufferable during L-Block's first run. You just did it yourself, with this line:

I mean someone just told me scoring 28% on link if he beats everyone else isn't telling which is just really dumb.

So I can't really blame anyone in particular. But I can say it's not the friendliest community I've ever been a part of. (Hell, I may be on a friendlier community right now in Quake Live!)

Aw yeah, 71% hour for Cloud! Man, if he's doing this to an RE character, after what Jill did to Samus (she had a 37%+ hour at one point)...

This is actually the most "pleasant" the stats topic has been in years. We're the one place on Board 8 that seems to tolerate Albion (I don't even have a problem with him). Wylvane and Albion are still around with crazy picks and occasional trolling, and the rest of us are cool with it. EC, the most "fiery" guy we had, is gone, and Karma has honed down his confrontational edge. You rarely see massive posts and lengthy arguments here these days; it's much more a place to relax and casually comment on the matches. Heck, it might be the most chill place on the board.

EC came around not too long ago, but yeah, he's generally gone now. Chichiri and Lucid Faia were also very confrontational with their perspectives, good as they may be, though they don't really hang here anymore. I miss two of the three mentioned. BT also seems more ignored than usual, which is odd since he doesn't seem as bad as in past years.

Ulti's off and on between picking up their slack and apologizing for antagonizing, and Curt'sruffled some feathers this year...but otherwise, I think you're right -- we've not been this chill in a long time.

Wait, Cloud is at 70%? Why the hell did I think he was at 68 when he was really at 69? Ah well, he's looking good. As Leon said, taking the night vote this definitively over a Resident Evil character should bring all the Samus talk to a screeching halt. It's also making me feel better about Seph's chances against Missingno, but I'm still nervous and am perfectly happy trying to pretend the glitch exists outside the contest.

Cloud to 70%. He'll probably get to 71%, not 72%. Ridley is terrible during the night, right? He gained about 2.5% from this point in that match though.

Not bad for Chris. He realized his future hinges upon this fight.

Yeah, this match definitely makes Sephiroth/Missingno. look more interesting. That's probably my most anticipated match right now, really, especially since the board vote will be absolutely hilarious; it's a fresh, Pokemon-related joke character versus... Sephiroth. The only way it could be better is if you placed Phoenix Wright in Missingno.'s place.

I'd much rather see a new character get into the highly elite territory than Clinkeroth's positions switch around again. Seems that only Square has a shot at creating a character on that level, and even that is very unlikely to happen soon.

I agree with you Sonic Factor.In fact I think everyone wants Cloud to win but they just don't accept it.I mean Link is fine and all but he has won many times,it is okay.But even if he loses if he scores around 47% on Link(okay assuming that Missingno shall lose to Yoshi)it will be okay.

What tier would you guys put Riku in? I did a little math, and Chris outdid Riku's percentage on Captain MacMillan in 08. 68% to 67%. Surely Captain MacMillan has even gotten stronger too, right?

Considering that Link could only get 72% on a low-carder too, i guess that Cloud's performance here today is actually quite good. Still don't think that Cloud has a chance against Link though.

Fox should be slightly stronger than Jill/Chris, but with N9 redeeming themselves a little bit this round, I would like to see Snake getting at least 67% on Fox.

Alucard is mostly known for SOTN, which has mostly been on Sony consoles/handhelds, so that's not a very good example.

What is a good example is Zelda's last two matches. She only gets 62% on Ezio who struggled with Simon Belmont, but she broke 70% on Travis, because Travis is limited to a Nintendo console.

It isn't. My point is basically don't try to forecast all these ridiculous SFF notions... in any match you could make one up honestly. It doesn't really apply unless it is very, very obvious in my opinion. They are nigh impossible to predict, SFF wise.

There is obviously some overlap between these characters, but that doesn't mean there must be SFF. Obviously there are people who have played RE and FFVII (myself included), but that isn't enough to assume that Chris would do better against another characeter of Cloud's strength.

Anyway, I would pick Alucard>Chris without even thinking twice about it, so I really don't see how people think this match makes Cloud look better than Link.

Every match features some dgree of SFF, when you have 50k or 80k people voting, to assume that no one has played both games in which the characters feature is nearly impossible since these are supposed to be the most popular characters on the site.
Its the degree of SFF you gotta calculate, would you say the overlap between Zelda/Castlevania players is smaller than the overlap between Zelda/Warcraft players. Its not as dominant as blatant as FFVII/FFVIII, but every match has some SFF, sometimes negligeable but other times it can just about make a little tweak in the results.
