I'm once again amazed by the accuracy of the vote-in polls. When trying to work out my Oracle for this match, I saw that Prince put up 47.41% against Belmont in the vote in, and 21.31% against Samus. Samus at 40% puts Belmont at 17.98%. Which puts Ezio at 22.31% based on what he did against Belmont. Pegging Zelda at 30.50% (where she's been around in the past) gives us Zelda with 63.43% here.

But I figured, Belmont's not really that strong right? So Zelda should get higher. So I gave her 65%. But, once again, the vote in proves way more accurate than I could've figured. Eerie.

On this Ratchet commercial discussion, and how "always had funny commercials" - it's fairly obvious his this marketing campaign was different than previous ones. This was by Sony, as part of their widespread PS3 marketing campaign. It was vastly more saturated than any of his previous ads.

I thought it was pretty damn likely Ratchet had boosted before the Jecht match. Jecht underperforming by a few points should tell us nothing about Jecht or Phoenix, that only reflect on Ratchet's boosting. I said exactly this before that match.

Jecht and Phoenix are both low-midcard (or elite fodder, if you prefer). Jecht should barely avoid the doubling from Zelda (like 34%), which isn't bad. Good chance he'll get doubled actually, because of the 12-hour format - I think that's a day match, and thus omits his best time.

The only explaination I have is the same kid(s) who thought Charizard could beat Kratos was playing as Kratos durring the fight.

I almost like to think the bracket was intentionally structured so that Laharl lost the day before Kratos did as a very subtle way to undercut anyone complaining about "Kratos would beat Charizard in a real fight!!!111!!" by allowing everyone to note the utter void of those arguments when Laharl lost, when Laharl is almost undoubtedly well beyond anyone else in the bracket in terms of "winning in a real fight".

Of course, I wouldn't be surprised if such arguments popped up if Laharl beat Kratos.

Hmm, is it possible the Zelda series is down a little bit this year? Link didn't perform up to expectations, Ken "redeemed" himself against Ganondorf after looking awful against Wesker, and Zelda doesn't look that great against somebody who didn't break 60% against Simon Belmont. Correct me if i'm wrong, most of what I bring up are just hunches.

So Ezio, like Roxas, is losing North America but winning the ASV. I thought the KH ASV was mainly from younger voters liking KH, but I would have guessed that AC's day vote was more from America liking it- guess not.

This is pretty much the most obvious proof that the character battle is about 90% game popularity, 10% character quality.

Right but Ezio was always projected to be around the same strength as Altair, and Altair looked fairly good against Vivi. If we assume that Ezio is stronger than Altair (which I always believed) then she seems to be at about the same strength as she always was.

Zelda's not near-elite anymore. She's lost a step. This was demonstrated by her poor performance against Trevor Touchdown. In her rematch with Samus, she won't get 45% again. She won't even break 40%

Yes. Link has flopped against Thrall and Alucard. Ganondorf flopped against Ken during the day.. If that was a 24 hour match, Ken would have done about 2% better. Midna barely outperformed Laharl and Zelda has had disappointing wins against fodder.

I'm going to disagree. She'll probably break 40.

Zelda's still a high-midcarder at worst. I don't think she'll (easily) break 40% on Samus since this isn't the female bracket.

But it's good to see her finally go far in a 128 bracket.
